I skimmed and didn't really see anyone talking about F2P online games, so I am just wandering: anyone out there playing any?
I personally play Maplestory & ever since the Vindictus beta came out I've been all over it. I also play Grand Chase and Shin Megami Tensei: Online.
I recommend them all. They are free with additional options that cost $$.
Here's a list :p :
Maple Story

Vindictus (is closed beta, but just incase you wanna see it.)

Errr... what is F2P?
-
Free to play. :p I should have put that. xD
-
Sorry, nope, anything that is a MMO is something I don't play. I never was a fan of that type of games. The only online games I play are Starcraft 1 and 2, sometimes Unreal Tournament 2004 and rarely Halo 3 and UTGOTY. I just don't like the endless grind fest and I prefer RPGs like Final Fantasy on the SNES. If there was a MMORPG like Secret Of Mana, with a story to follow, not just random quests like Borderlands, I wouldn't mind playing it a bit, though, if leveling up is quick. Star Ocean for Xbox 360 and PS3 got a quest system, but it's optional.
-
Okay Secret of Mana ~ One of the best games ever made. :D
But no, I hear ya. Newer stuff is less structure more blood. xD
-
I don't really mind blood, but it just seems like most stuff involves talking to a NPC telling you to find a letter, getting the letter from the girl back to the guy, receiving a new quest, going back to someone else to get a pendent, going back to the guy, who will tell you to give it to another girl, then suddently, random dragon attack in the city, then having to go in a tower to grab a cursed item, giving it to an old man, without any signifiant primary goal in all this, and most of the time you just grind. I also hate how we need to be a certain LV to use certain items.
-
Haha, I liked the example. There are def a lot of games like that. However, there are a lot of games, in turn that are not like that. :D
-
Um, I've recently gotten back into RuneScape. I have played, and enjoy, MapleStory, Eudemons Online, Knights Online, and 9Dragons. I think that's all I played but RuneScape is the only current one (though I am a member so I don't know if that still counts).
-
Oh man, I haven't played runescape in forever! xD are you a high level on it?
-
Well I just started completely over because I just felt like it, but my original character was level 76, I believe. Not a pure or anything so all his levels are pretty rounded, or at least a lot of them are. My new one is like level 36 or so. I'm liking this new one better I think.
-
Yea, I play runescape too. A decent number of our forum goers play runescape it seems. :D
-
Maybe I should get back to playing, I'm about to login, or at least atempt to. :p
-
haha more like stellar dawn for me. Runescape is exactly what DJ said- boring grind fests and random quests, and certain levels to use items.

I applied for the closed beta, :3 it looks rather interesting.

/me is angry at Grand Chase.
I spent the majority of today downloading Grand Chase, and it finally errors out... 12 hours since I started the download... (granted I stopped the download a couple times today). So, I won't be playing that one :P
-
Grandchase is really fun. There is no grinding, which is good, however there is a lvling system. You can unlock multiple characters per account, which is pretty cool. It's more 'arcadey' than most games.
-
Just try to not get too addicted to those games. Fortunately some people like rcfreak0 tried WoW for example and did not get addicted much, but I remember bad stories about MMORPG addiction in the past. We and other TI sites even lost members due to that x.x
-
Well, I used to be addicted to maplestory. It was horrible. At least now, I'm better, but the addiction comes and goes. I haven't played in a while.
-
when i was a noob, i got addicted to runescape.. now i hate it
-
Lol, I loved the way you phrased that. I was addicted in like middle school. I look at it now, and I can't even remember how to play. The interface has changed sooo hardcore like. :p
-
Some people around here still plays Runescape, but they don't play very often, from what I can notice.
-
Ive been playing Runescape on and off for years now, sometimes have bouts of major addiction.
I also just recently quit a two year WoW addiction :P
