Title: My own league?
Post by: jsj795 on May 21, 2011, 10:35:25 pm
Right after the placement matches, we were placed at platinum league... rank 1!
Turns out we made our own league  :w00t:

Strange, I guess you started a new division lol, or there's just not enough 3v3 team ranked in plat XD

Or Blizzard had issues with their servers at that time, or you hacked the game.

Seriously, though, in 4v4 I don't even play with people I know, I just play random, and it takes like 5 minutes to find a game even during busy times. I think very few play ranked team games because your success almost depends only of your team skills and team play, so if you end up vs a team that suck you are screwed. I bet a lot of people stopped playing 3v3 and 4v4 because of that, which sucks, because when playing with people you know, you can plan strategies before the game starts at all.

One thing I despise a lot in team games is people who abuse the ping function (Alt+G). I mean, people who ping the minimap, doing a ring sound to notify people of something suspicious on the map or to tell who to attack, but do it for absolute no reason, then go spam the minimap with it. It's so friggin annoying and make it hard to concentrate...

lol yeah i tend not to play team games unless it's with people i know. Since I'm in a clan it's easier to find people to play with tho.

Still, I definitely agree with winning/losing based on the team's skill, and it has almost no bearings on the team's league/rank. There might be a grandmaster playing in opponent's team when your team only consists of gold players.

Oh ok you're part of a clan. I personally never bothered with them because of my skills. I tend to not be too bad in teams sometimes but it depends what I do. I tend to not operate well when I am told to do stuff over and over. X.x

And yeah sometimes I end up playing with silver/diamond people while I'm in plat. The opposite team will be slightly favored, yet they're all lower plat players.

I think I'll get demoted to gold soon, though, because lately I just end up vs dt cheese and my teamates never builds detectors. I would prefer gold, though, because that's what I am in 3v3, although I hope I don't end up in low gold, because the last time I went on 10 wins streaks there, and I was not even trying.

In 1v1 I am not as good because I was used a lot to playing in teams before and I have troubles multitasking X.x. In teams it's different. You can build units to defend against pushes, but then after the first push you can start focusing only on muta harrassing then only building mutas while everyone else defends or attack, and it kinda splits the enemy army a bit.

the team games' strategy is totally different from 1v1s in so many ways. Hence I consider myself around plat level when playing in team games, because I'm so used to 1v1s. Also the bigger the team game, the more game gets luck-involved imo. But then I wouldn't know cuz I barely play team games

Yeah true. Often opponets all attack the same person at once with mass marines and speedlings so you're screwed. Plat is much worse for that too, not to mention the datk templar cheese lately. Gold wasn't this bad at least.
