I bought this portable dvd player at a flea market a month ago. Today I finally took it apart, ripped out the dvd drive and stuffed an NES clone in it. It has a large battery at the bottom, but I am not sure how long it will last. My guess is: long enough to watch a movie, so definitely long enough to play some games!

You're a tech genius. I want that thing.

Thank you for the compliment :3 With most of these projects it's a matter of getting the right parts. If you can find a nes on a chip for example you can fit it in almost any portable dvd player. Just take out the dvd drive and connect some wires.

ok, this is pretty awesome! :D

Now if you excuse me: I am going to play some games in the backyard.

I like the fact it is based on a portable dvd player. It makes it easier to find parts. You don't have to buy the screen, then build the shell, etc :)
However, I agree with StreetWalrus: GameCube version wanted :P
