Ok IMHO so far, the best Xbox 360 RPG for traditional RPG fans would be Star Ocean 4, simply because unlike many other 360 RPGs, it is long enough and includes all traditional RPGs elements you want or close. Tales of Vesperia (I think?) is also good, but I really love SO4.
However, there is only one problem that I despise with this game (that every older SO games had, to a much lesser extent): the cutscenes. They are really awesome and all, but Tri-Ace went really overkill with them in the way that they are ridiculously long. Fortunately, most cutscenes can be skipped, changing it to a short text, but that short text sometimes won't tell everything that happened in it, so you may miss out a lot of important stuff. That is not the biggest problem, however. Some cutscenes, like private actions and the ones after beating the final boss CANNOT be skipped!
Basically, I warn you now, if your parents restrict the amount of hour a day you can play video games, then don't buy this game. Also, when you arrive in the final area, don't start the final battle further than 6 PM or so. The two first cutscenes can be skipped. That's good, otherwise the first lasts about 15 minutes, then a fight of about 2-15 minutes depending of your level ensues , then the second cutscene, that lasts about 30 minutes! The final boss, however, will take between 10 and 30 minutes to beat and guess how long the ending lasts afterward? 4 HOURS! 4 FREAKING HOURS!!! And that excludes the bonus endings of about one minutes each (I got 5 I think), so yeah, that was a very big mistake of me to start beating the final boss at 2 AM x.x.

x.x thats y u were non responsive on irc last night and duely noted cause it sounded like a good game that i would like to bye XD
-
a 4 hour ending O.O
that's 2 or 3 movies these days xd
Nice tho ;D
-
4 hours!?!
Wow. I thought the begining of Illusiat 13 was kinda long. ;D
-
I,m not sure but that must be a record, because in the past, I never seen a video game ending/cutscene last more than an hour
-
oh my god that 14400 minutes thats
>9000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*geekboy runs !!!

Anyway, now I'm doing the side quests, hoping there's no such long cutscenes. The 7 Star Cave is fucking hard, though, even on first floor, and I'm LV 98 in Galaxy mode (normal difficulty)
-
Gosh, 4H? Thats crazy long. Well it sounds like a sure epic game if you can stay awake through the cutscenes XD
-
I want a PC version. >:(
Another cool RPG is Borderlands. It's on XBOX 360 too.

Another thing I hate is the stupid pointless private actions (which are optional) that suddently happens out of nowhere, for example, in Tropp Village, once, I went on the sea border, and suddently everything dissapeared and a convo with that cat girl, Edge and another women about how the cat girl would make a good fisher occured and it wasted about 10 minutes of my time, no way to skip it
Another thing that is annoying (altough it gets less frequent after you beat the game and only have the side quests to do) is having to constantly swap from Disc 3 to Disc 2 or vice versa when warping from one of the three first planets to one of the two last ones

There are multi-disk games? I never knew that before...
-
I guess with 4+ hours of pure cuscenes and gameplay, you would have to do something about it! :P
-
wow... and how's the quality of the cutscenes and stuff?
the disk must be pretty big in size!
-
well at least you can go back to other places
in all the multi disk games i have played once you beat a disc there is no going back :(
jsj795 well they are
4.7 gb big each or 8.<somthing>gb if they are dual layer dvds so there is really a lot of info :)

Almost every Playstation RPGs had at least two discs. When they only had one and game was still 3D, it was an indication the game was incredibly short and sucked. On Xbox 360 it's DVDs though, but with the cutscenes (which are good quality as well as graphics) it takes a lot of discs. Actually, this game is about 40 hours of gameplay unless you grind and search a lot, in which case it will be close to 50, like most typical SNES and PS1 RPGs. Keep in mind that in SO4, about 15 hours in the game is just cutscenes and there must be more, because I only have like 20 of the 50 achievements

Also, I think a lot of GameCube games were multi-disk, I don't know this for a fact but am basing it off the fact that the very few games I have had two game disc's in the cases.

on the game cube games there are onmly like 3 games i know of that are actually multi disk (there are many that have bopnus disk with extra content eg movies and picture galleries ect)
that main one i can recall is tales of symphonia a 3d rpg for the gamecube and it is very long (60 hours of gameplay on average) over 2 minidvds so yeah :)
