Stepmania! It's DDR for your fingers. With a limitless amount of songs available on every difficulty imaginable (but mostly just really hard or insane) it really is better. You could even get a dance pad for your PC and never have to buy another DDR game again. Anyway, who here plays? If you don't, why not try? Song packs can be found below and I can try (emphasis on try) and give some pointers to those that want it.

Downloads
Various downloads for Stepmania. Songs, themes, and noteskins. If you want me to add something to the list, just let me know.

Song Packs
None of these are hosted by me, but they're some pretty damn good packs. I'll link to each of them and give an approximate difficulty rating for the one's I've tried. Much more to come in the future. Unzip them into your Songs folder. (except for the Otaku's Dream series, you have to unzip those into your Stepmania folder) Due to the varying types of files used, I'd recommend WinAce (http://www.winace.net/files/wace269i.exe). It's worked for every file here so far, but if you have another Unzipper you prefer, then use it.

Absolutely. The only downside is having to download all the songs, but that's what song packs are for. Lazy people. (like me) =)

I am a Heavy player. However, the best I get is AA with one hand.

Haha, you're just a bit better than me. I play spread or index. I can do some songs one-handed... but I'm just not that great.
Even then, the best I get is AA myself. ^^;

I've gotten a couple of AAA's in my time, but that's mostly luck, a love of the song, and playing it over and over again.

I used to play but gave up cuz i just suck at rhythm games. I can barely finish a song in beginner mode. I am more a fan of Audiosurf, now, but it's not free

It was neccessary for organization's sake. You saw how big the downloads post was and I still have to add more to it later.
Plus, I'm guessing there will be plenty of videos later on too. It's always good to gather as much as possible in the first posts. ^^;

mhmm ok, then x.x, I thought it was some sort of unnecessary triple-posting x.x, which is why I merged all posts content then deleted the others. Plus, I noticed some members are taking bad examples lately. I guess if you want, I could always put your two other posts back up, though (they are in trash bin).

Let's just try to not abuse it too much, though, cuz as you noticed lately, double posting seems to have been abused a lot over here, even after the new rule claryfyfing it was added x.x. We give people one inch and they take a foot

True enough. For now, we'll leave it like this. I'll let you know if I need the other posts later.

ok. It should be easy to re-add, unless the Trash bin ever got hit by the same thing TIMGUL's did (altough it might be fixable by editing the MySQL database directly), because no reply were made between each posts

As for the game, I think it depends of people. I love RTSes but I suck with my hands, which cause me to have trouble quickly moving my mouse exactly over a small unit and clicking it instantly. In FPSes I have trouble aiming and shooting other people. In 3rd person view 3D games I always fall off blocks/bridges when walking x.x

Hey {AP}, do you know if there are any Naruto/Bleach song packs? I didn't see any of the music in the Anime one.

Well, the Otaku's Dream packs have 1 Naruto song in the 1st, 3rd, and 4th mix and 1 Bleach song in the 2nd mix.

Other than that, I still have to look for some more packs. Those are just the ones I have on me so far and I just started playing again today. ^^;
(My hard drive was wiped awhile back so I haven't bothered downloading anything for months now.)

It has single songs, but you have to register first. (It's free and painless.)

Well, I'm kinda getting back into my old groove. I decided to get out my recorder, hit record, and upload whatever happened.
Not the best by a long shot, but hey... I had fun. (Adjusting to the slight recorder lag is a pain though.)

Description:
I just started playing Stepmania again after a LONG hiatus. I'm still rusty. (Also, I have to adjust to that slight recorder lag.)

Two hands. My style is this set-up.

It's in the order of the arrows at top so:
G - ←
(left middle finger)
H - ↓
(left index finger)
4 - ↑
(right index finger)
5 - →
(right middle finger)

I use these keys because it's a comfortable spread and it doesn't cause that annoying beep if you press all 4 keys at once. (some songs require you to do that...)

If I'm not using this set-up though, I just use the arrows and my 2 index fingers. (or 1-handed if a song is really easy but I still want to listen to it)

I liked it at first but I just suck at rhythm or reflex games, so I kinda got bored eventually. Also it was a major PITA to create your own simfiles. Eventually I just downloaded simfiles for the songs.

I really love those J-pop songs on Stepmania. But yeah it's a shame that's it's so hard to actually find easy songs for Stepmania.
I also loved how you could add announcer voices. Or that you could play with different effects that make your arrows go wavey and stuff  ;D

Yeah you would probably need to do simfiles for some of them, sadly. As for Omni stuff maybe if you are lucky you could find some, though, since the songs I made seems to have kinda spread on vid websites and mp3 downloads (linking to here or Youtube). Heck my music was even stolen by a newgrounds guy but the report I sent never got through x.x

Yeah sadly it's with the keyboard so it's more like a key mashing rhythm game like Guitar Hero or OSU. However, I wonder if it's possible to use an actual dancemat with it?

Personally, living in an appartment I wouldn't be able to use one, due to neightboorhood, but it would be cool if people could use one. :)

also @ aoc if you have a pad you can plug it into the computer with a simple adapter if its for the ps2 if you want i can find the schematics for the adapter....granted you need a parrelel port :/

@ Geek: I have a usb to PS2 adapter somewheres. Parallelol? I haven't used one of those in a long time. :) I don't do DDR anymore really anyhow though.

Here is another song I played no where near as good as in the last one though. i do like the song a lot better though
