Hey, there's a new web player out that makes some really good games. it makes games in 3d, and does em well. This one is my fav, a basic clone of Minecraft, but minus as much cool stuff.

You have to download the player.

It's not really new. It's been out for a while, just not mainstream.
-
Hmm I haven't heard about that one. I might give it a try eventually.
-
I started developing with it (then removed it to save space on my computer) It seems pretty easy to use, and powerful.
-
Wait it's actually a game maker?

Yep :) it's also a web player too, which is needed of course for the games you make with it :P
-
Nice. If it's a bit easier to use than Game Maker I might give it a try.
-
What's wrong with GM? I think it's pretty easy to use. Having it not be OOP is a little weird, but oh well.
-
Dead Frontier 3D was made with this too :D
-
Played a Unity game called BeGone. Its a CoD-ish game. It takes a pretty decent computer to play it tho. Just search BeGone on kongregate.
You only get one gun tho, and it kicks like crazy. Graphics are nice though.

Tilemaps seemed to be a PITA to make compared to RPG Maker. In RPG Maker the tilemapper is pretty much done for you. All you need to do is drawing the map. In GM, you have to write the scrolling routines, otherwise you're stuck scrolling about 9000 tiles around. I also never figured out how to make games full screen by changing the monitor resolution.
-
What version of GM are you using, because I don't know when they added views.
-
Yeah this is what I mean. I never could figure out how to scroll, though. However just understand that if something is easy for you it doesn't mean it's as easy for everyone else. Note that I used Game Maker 5 or 6, I think. I don't even remember the site looking like this back then.
-
Ok. I get it. Humm. I've never seen GM5 or 6.

Reminds me of my friend.
-
You mean your friend said the same thing or do you mean he does that? ???
As for GM5/6 I heard about it when I visited a Metroid Fan game site back in 2005. Some cool stuff was made in GM there, but the site got hacked every 6 month and everything was deleted all the time...

Not to be rude, but he's not as skilled as I am at programming. He could be, he just doesn't really apply himself.
On a side note, here are some really cool games made with GM. They are the featured ones.

Ah ok. I need to check that site more one day.
-
Better yet, check out the GMC (Game Maker Community)! It's another forum, however I am no longer active there. Same username though (except no space :()

Cool, I'll check the projects there I think, although I doubt I'll have time to participate, not to mention I tend to dislike GM type forums due to generally hostile/immature userbase. (which is why I left the Metroid Fan Mission forums).
-
Yea, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't nearly as good as Omni :)
-
Ah ok. Usually on GM-type sites, what I noticed is that people either put the bar way too high (on RPG Maker boards, if your game contains one single trace of the included tiles, your entire game is considered as bad, they're grammar nazis and they want your game to be as good as FF games to like it) or the board is filled with kids who are more open towards any project, but they blow up when for example you ask a question but it was already answered and you missed the answer or other trivial things.
