I took off the back of my mario bros and duckhunt cartridge and swapped it out with the castlevania one. I don't need to buy atari2600 games anymore because I have this now:

Well actually I do have to buy games that are larger than 4KB since I do not have bankswitching logic installed yet.

Yeah but sometimes it's fun as a collector or if you absolutely want the real cartridges.

In my case the Solaris copy I got was even unopened (plastic wrap still on with only some small holes) and in perfect condition so I just got a brand new cartridge

(it was cheap too considering it was still sealed and not crushed or anything)

Btw is it me or are Atari boxes oversized for the small cartridges?

They're like the same size as some computer games.

Yeah I got 19 2600 games with my console and a lot of them were boxed copies. The boxes look like arse, but the black label cartridges are in mint condition.

Did I ever mention that when I first read the title of this topic I thought that it meant "Your best video game pickup lines"? As in you use a video game reference to try to get a girl. Just wanted to say that.

But really all of my old video games were donated to me and I never bought any.

Instead I rarely get old PC's that I can fix up, upgrade and sell for a bit of profit. They usually go for €50, but I have to upgrade it for about €30 in order to sell them today.

selling PC games is hard because the serial key is often already used and the buyer won't trust you in not using it online (for example, if the same serial key is used on 2 different connections some servers ban it) and sometimes the serial key is missing. This is why most game stores don't accept back used computer games here.

I went to a retro videogame con. Look what I brought back home

-NES clone €8,50 (has nicer video output than a real nes and it plays smoother because the CPU is clocked faster. If only I could mod it to 60Hz)
-4x Commodore 64 reset button. €2 (I want the userport connectors!)

And nice selection in overall. I myself got Defender and Asteroids for the 2600 yesterday but the store only had copies of those games and two other games (Missile Command and Yars Revenge I think). They were marked at $4.35 but they scanned at $2.50 each (although back in 2005 or so I recall seeing them at $0.99 there).

Also does your NES clone play sound correctly? I noticed that most NES clones don't emulate sound as accurately as the SNES.

And wow at the N64 total price!

By the way the only bad news about my recent game pickups is that my copy of Solaris is PAL, so it doesn't play on my CRT TV and I have to use my LCD instead, on which it's playable aside from slightly different colors. It's hard to tell if an Atari 2600 game is PAL or NTSC because it isn't stated on the box or cartridge >.< and Ebay often wrongly list them as NTSC if the user is from USA.

Some of my game cartridges have a letter on them. B means PAL B, P also means PAL. I figure A or N means ntsc. I do not own any ntsc games though.
After I bought yars revenge I saw it in a bin somewhere else for €1 >.<

Edit: it does the sound quite well actually. Except for one stage in megamanz2 the echo sounds a bit off. I looked inside and I cannot find an obvious way to make this thing output ntsc.

Just got Donkey Kong Country 3 SNES, Lost Viking Sega Genesis and a NES controller at Microplay (they started selling SNES/NES/Genesis/N64 games again). DKC3 was $39.99 boxed (no manual), but they had a 2 for 3 promotion on used games so I got the NES controller for free. Everything was in good condition.

Also apparently now you can even exchange a SNES game for new games and they almost give you full value when it's an exchange for a game of similar price, so if Brain Lord ever happened to pick up in value that could be a good way to get rid of it (I don't like that game much). I was actually joking with the cashier saying I could bring back a brand new sealed copy of Earthbound but of course that wouldn't work since the store wouldn't even have enough cash to pay the difference.

That NES clone with the higher clock wouldn't play the games smoother. It would play them faster. NES games, like calculator apps, are not synced to a clock. They are cycle-based.

I assume that sound would be pitched up too, right? (Like how it's pitched down if playing NTSC games on a modified PAL NES

It's supposed to, but most timing signals comes from the ppu I think which outputs 50Hz pal composite. I think it's pretty much the same, but I have not hooked up the sound yet.
