Personally im a huge zelda fan....but i dig pokemon, lol it gets me through math classes
-
Depends. I hate the new pokemons
I loved Pokemon up to and including ruby and sapphire.
-
my fav has and will always be, emerald
-
blech IMO.
I hated Emerald (because fate deemed I wouldn't get enough money :/)
-
zelda FTW (links awakening) pokemon red- saphire is good but above is thumbs down
-
I'm not much into Pokemon really as this was released here after my RPG gaming craze. I am more into Zelda really (especially A Link To The Past)
-
I like Oracle of Seasons the most.
-
My vote goes to zelda. I like the style and the puzzels!
-
I really like both, but I'd probably have to pick Pokemon. Crystal version was and still is my favorite GBC game.
-
I never played oracle of seasons
-
I though it was extremely well made. It is very similar to Oracle of Ages if you have played that one.
-
I used to be annoyed by these two games before because OOS and OOA started the whole Nintendo mentality of forcing people to buy two games to get all features available in one in order to fish even more money from customers. It was made even worse when pokémon arrived, where to get all 150 of them you needed both Blue and Red versions. People bought both, only to see a 3rd one containing both versions for the price of one afterward (Yellow). The only advantage of having both Blue and Red apparently were the faster leveling up rate.
The games were pretty good and could be played without having the others, but back in the late '90s I was angry as a poor family member that they would do that and kinda started some sort of boycott towards any game that forced the purchase of an extra game, although since then I've stopped.
Another thing I hated is how for the Nintendo 64 they required to buy extra hardware or components to play some games, like the memory card and memory pack.
-
I hated buying two games also! I used to just get one friend to buy one Pokemon game and i'd buy the other, then we'd catch all the Pokemon and then trade. Seemed faster then playing both simultaneously.
-
Zelda ftw ^^
-
Zelda ftw ^^
What does "ftw" mean ? (I am French, for those who don't know it :))
-
for the win

Ah that can work too, and I guess you can trade each other's both games if you ever want to play both.
I also dislike the expansion concept a bit, like with Starcraft, although at least with no expansion you still have an entire game with 100% of the features in the first place. You just get extra ones with an expansion that is released much later.
-
for the win
Ah ok, thanks.
Pokemon ftw then ! :D
-
Although both games, Zelda and Pokemon, the concepts are still very similar, and most of whether you like one or the other is due to personal opinion. Technically one is not better then the other, its more of whether you like the straight ahead 'swing your sword and kill the enemy' style or the 'run through a field until a Pokemon jumps out and makes you almost scream because all you wanted to do was get over the bushes without having to fight'
-
For the win! :D
-
I would pokemon, cause im no good at zelda :P
-
Zelda!!!
It's much more interesting than Pokemon.
-

I actually found Zelda to be easier than Pokemon. Maybe I am just weird but I have trouble grasping the whole Pokemon concept, but it is a lot of fun.
-
For the win! :D
Yay ! I got two answers ! :w00t: I am interesting :P (better two than zero).

Pokemon is easier to code on a calculator :P
-
I was talking about the concept of the gba games, not the coding.
-

I know, we rarely buy a game to code it afterwards :P
It was just a joke, or something that was meant to be funny (epic fail it seems D:)
-
Well i have found a lot of people trying to code it, and failing, and I have seen people do the same with Zelda, seeing this i realize Pokemon is easier. I actually once made it in basic. So i didn't know exactly what u meant, but if it makes you feel better....Ha Ha Ha :)
-
if it makes you feel better....Ha Ha Ha :)
Thanks ;D
I actually once made it in basic.
What did you do ? Pokemon or Zelda ?
-
I made Pokemon
-
I made Pokemon
:D I made one in basic too ! but once finished, it didn't fit in the RAM :'(
So I made one in Axe ;D
-
I archived mine, and ran it through no shell. But it was to boring and slow.
-
I like how in Zelda, you actually have to puzzle through some things(not to say that you don't in Pokemon) That kind of stuff appeals to me.
-
My favorite part of the Zelda games is having to figure out how to kill a boss....in the battle!
-

I agree. I was playing the free version for DSi earlier, and I had know idea how to get them, so I had to sit and experiment.
-
My biggest pet peeve is when people sometimes search the web for cheats on how to win. I think that takes away from the game.
-
Also, I hate the dungeon part of the Zelda, because you have use different methods to kill the boss
In Pokemon however...
1.Click Fight
2.Choose move
3. POWN or lose the game :P
-
So true! :) but the dungeons are like the best part of the Zelda games!
-
I totally agree
-
the only thing similar to the dungeons in Zelda, in pokemon, would be the arena's
-
I like both of them, I don't prefer one or the other. They are both very different games.
-

Well I personally don't mind cheats once I beaten the entire game, though. Sometimes I just want to replay a 2nd or 3rd time for the story and will cheat a bit to go through it faster, other times i just want to mess around and try cheats that modifies the game (such as in F-Zero X, there are cheats to race at 2500 Km/h and it's even more challenging)

For the win

For the win
Is this again an answer for my question ? :w00t:
Never 2 without 3 ! ("Jamais 203" in French)
-
Also: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=ftw
Zelda has always been very artistic, funny and the story is fairytale-like. Pokémon is rather easy, cute, for kids, but when you play it "advanced" it's more technical and has strategy. Zelda just needs thumb-skill.
-

I agree except for the part where it says I don't prefer one or the other
-
Zelda, because it focuses more on the story... pokemon's goal is really just to catch them all and beat the Elite 4 :P
-
Zelda. I love puzzle games and adventure games, so Zelda is perfect for me. Pokemon was good through Emerald, but after that is really just got cheesy.
-

but what about beating the crap out of your frined with bunch of high level pokemon of yours? D:
That's the one reason why I play it.
-

True :P
But still, even though I LOVE puzzles, I don't like Zelda, cause it's just confusing :P
I really don't like confusing games unless they're hard core puzzle games :P
-
Zelda isn't that confusing, Its just time consuming.
-
Yeah I agree, although some puzzles and mini games are rather tricky. Not all of them are, though.
-
And still by my personal opinion, and reinforced by the poll, Zelda is better:) lol, well atleast it is for me. every game has its player. and Zelda is my game! lol I used to spend countless hours just seeing how fast I could beat it.
-
Is there a 84+ Zelda game?
-
I think there are a few, but they are like, very buggy. in my opinion. I haven't found one that actually works well...... NEW PROJECT IDEA!!! I'll finish Mario Shotgun first
-
There are only two finished ones that are actual Zelda games and not Final Fantasy/Tales of Phantasia bare-bone clones renamed to Zelda: Zelda: The Hero of Hyrule and Zelda: Dark Link Quest. The first is not too bad but it's in French and extremely hard and the second one is quite slow because it used outdated ASM libs. (xLIB APP did not exist back then) The second one is the only one that actually has the entire Zelda system of heart pieces, item menu and even the map to map scrolling transition, although if ASCII art or BASIC RPGs aren't your forte, then you might not like it. The thing, though, is that they're the only ones that ever got finished.
-
Probablly because of how massive it is
-
Well because of my namesake, Link, I personally love Zelda. But pokemon emerald was pretty awesome. Overall though Zelda wins.
-
I second that!
-
Yea there is if I remember
I played it before :D
-
Hey
DualDLDR BalancedFury your nickname should be Fury ;D
it sounds impressive :D
-
Lol You put DualDLDR :P
I know it's impressive cause I chose it :P
-
If you think about it, BalancedFury is you nickname, so if your nickname was also Fury,....That would be like a nickname for a nickname! ? Am I the only one that this confuses? Although both are very impressive :)
-
BalanceFury is
MapleStory throwing-star really awesome nickname :D
