Yesterday I bout a brand new TI 84+ SE. Unfortunately, it seems to have a problem. When you enter the graph menu, and some other menus, it pauses each time you scroll down, for several seconds. I even completely reset the memory, and it was unchanged. I compared with a friend's calculator (same model) and it doesn't have the problem. Is my calculator a lemon?

What is your OS version? This sounds like an OS 2.53 problem, though I wouldn't know for sure.
-
That seems to be my OS. In the About Screen it says 2.53MP
-
you should install 2.43. it's much better. here (http://education.ti.com/educationportal/sites/ASIA/nonProductMulti/singapore_apps.html) it is.
-
Singapore approved?
-
It's the regular OS 2.43. For some unknown stupid reasons, this version is no longer available on the american site, just on the Singapore APPs one.
-
Ah ok. Thank you!
-
Yeah, 2.53 is a piece of BS. Random stuff like that happens.
-
btw I just realised... are you from USA? Because over here in Quebec, in french some people (mostly 40 years old until baby-boomer age) use the idiom "a lemon" when it comes to defective stuff we buy new at store.
-
I'm from the US, but my father's British, and he uses it. :D
-
Aaah ok ^^

So I installed the OS, and it gave me an error on the calc and TI-Connect. The calc told me to press any button to turn off the calculator, and then to turn it back on. When I turned it back on, the RAM cleared screen came up, and it froze. So, I took a battery out, and when I turned the calc back on, it seemed fine. Is that the end of it?
-
Does it say OS 2.43 now?
If so, then yes. That is the end of your problems in regards to the OS.
-
It does, yes. Thank you. Well, it says 2.43 not OS 2.43, but meh. :)
Does anyone know why it might've given an error but still worked? If it helps, it said something about distribution/disambiguation (one of the two) lists.
-
So, it's a lemon? Try turning it into lemonade
-
Well, I could try to blend it... ;D
Thank you to everyone.
-
Ti smoke. Don't breathe this!
-
It'll shorten your lifespan by over 9000 times.

Welcome :P
ti made ti-connect, that is why it gave errors... :P
Personally, i only hate ti-connect becaise of how long it took them to work on x64 bit systems.
Years!!!
Welcome :D

Personally, I hate TI. For everything. Their one good achievement was making a nice calculator for us to hack.

True, they take a while to do everything. But that's probably because it's all free software stuff, and they have a lot to do in what they specialize in: Hardware.

If your calc is sstill giving you issue, I suggest you get the receipt and get it back to the store.
-
Well, I don't hate them for anything but the nspire's asm. I can see them not thinking about it for the 82 and 85, but they figured out we wanted asm programming from the 86 and 83 onward. Suddenly, the nspire comes out, and asm(hello) does NOTHING X( learn from your mistakes TI
Maybe if we ask nicely, they will make an OS 2.2 that has an asm() command! :P Yeah right.
