Title: Battery Problem. Calc is always on charging. Is it bad?

I plugged NSPIRE CX CAS(3.2.3.1233) on via Laptop USB port.
It is plugged all the time.



Laptop is turned off during night and sometimes during daytime.


Maybe calc is on charged about 10 to 14 hours for a day.
So battery is 100% all the time.




I have three questions.


1. Is it a bad habit for rechargable battery?


2. Is it recommended to get rid of battery and to use via USB (or wall charger) power
if the calc is always plugged?
(and which is better between USB and Wall charger?)


3. calibration(full discharge to 5%) is necessary for TI calc too?

I do not know what type of battery the Nspire CX uses, but I heard that with some mobile devices, always keeping them at 0% or 100% reduced the battery capacity to hold a charge over time. However, since some batteries stop receiving a charge at 100% (which isn't really 100%) then it might be fine to charge it fully depending of the device/battery type.

However what is exactly the calculator problem? Does the TI-Nspire simply refuse to charge? Does it always displaying the "Charging in progress" icon even when it's not plugged in? I am unsure if I could understand your question.

Battery is original one (Model : 3.7L1060SP, 3.7V, 1060mAh 3.92 Wh).
Li-ion or Li-Polymer.

And no visible problem.
Just wonder if it can cause reduce life or capacity of battery.

Ah ok, I generally avoid keeping my devices charged unless I need to charge them personally, just in case it's one particular battery that doesn't stop automatically charging once it reaches max capacity and also to avoid reducing its capacity in long terms.

It's better to keep Li-Ion batteries charged, rather than run them down and charge them from the bottom. Some other batteries work better by draining and recharging fully, but the ideal for Lithium-based batteries is actually to keep them at around 60-80% of their maximum. Good charging circuits do this for you, so that ideal 80-ish% is actually what reports as 100%.

As far as just using wall current goes, there's no reason to take the battery out in those circumstances.

It does't seems Long time charge is so critical,
but I would better not to plug it monthly long or more.
