Title: Calculator headphones
Post by: Tgooseman on May 14, 2011, 01:00:41 pm
Does using headphones on your calculator always slow it down to a crawl, or is it just the pair I am using?

Also something interesting I found, an xbox live headset has a 2.5 mm jack, just like the calculator.  I haven't used that though.

It always slows down a lot or seems to freeze when you're running the normal OS. When you're in an Asm program, it doesn't happed.

Mine always slows it down too.

From what somebody told me, the OS is apparently constantly checking for input from the headphone.  Headphones don't tend to do that sort of thing, so everything just slows down.

Yeah, that's what happens. The developers at TI didn't expect that we were going to insert things other than their calcs...

thepenguin77's application zStart (http://ourl.ca/10110/207948) has a function that enables headphones to be plugged into the calculator and have the calculator run normally :)

On a side note I got a 2.5-3.5 adapter today :DDDDDDDDDDDddasetw0e4896u 3

Ok good to know because I plugged them in and then tried to scroll to my program but it took forever! So then I just set it up to hit enter and then plugged the headphones in  :P

Yep, just run zStart, then press [ON] + [Y=] at the homescreen to make it work with headphones.

you can also use a resistor(I use one of 10K). That works fine for me.
