CAS function in Basic Nspire?

Hello All!!

A couple of months ago I tried to "convert" my basic Nspire into CAS, but because I was (and still am a bit  ::)) a NOOB, the first thing I did when I got my calc was to update the OS to the infamous 3.1.0392...  :banghead:

Only after a "long conversation" with Lionel, who was very patient with me ( :thumbsup:), I understood I couldn't have the CAS function anymore...

But since now we have the wonderfull news about Ndless 3.1 release (YAY!!), I tried to do it again following these instructions, using the OS 3.1.0392 basic and CAS, but I still can't seem to make it work... I can go through every step, except I'm having troubles in sending the ndless_installer-3.1.0.tno file to the folder ndless in the calc... Everytime I try to do it, the calc reboots and the file isn't there and I can't do any "CAS" operations in the calc...

Am I doing something wrong or is it still not possible to do the "conversion"?...  ???

Any ideas?... Lionel?...  ;D

I had that happen to0.  This means that your 'ndless' file folder isn't in the root of your calc.  Make the new folder directly under the My Documents folder.  So open My Documents, and right in the My Documents folder create your ndless folder.  Then just send your ndless_resources ndless_installer-3.1.0.tno to that folder and it should work.

Hey AzNg0d1030, my ndless folder is actually in the root... so I don't know why that happens... could it be the OS version?..

What you transfer to the calculator is just Ndless, which is the Nspire's "jailbreak", but does in no way magically provide CAS functionality :)
At the time of this writing, there's no way to get the CAS functionality on a Nspire sold as non-CAS, running OS 3.1.0.392, and locked onto OS 3.x through a boot2 3.x where DowngradeFix does not work. There's no boot2 reflashing program. OSLauncher requires porting work, and OS 3.1.0.392 is too large anyway for the previously used method to work at all.
