Casio Scientific Calc Clone
« on: January 05, 2013, 10:54:03 pm »
(Didn't find a better section to put this in) Found this in my local CVS today. They were literally right next to each other o.O The clone was like $5 cheaper than the Casio, and had literally the exact same layout. (I got a little annoyed :P) (Sorry about the blurriness, phone camera and holding 2 calcs with one hand do not mix well)
"Eris" (Ndless 3.1)
"Keto" (Ndless 3.1)
"Luna" (AMS 3.10, HW4)
"Aurora" (2.55MP)

How do you know it is a clone?
This used to contain a signature.

There are so many CASIO clones in China, some of them even clone the diagnostic screen (press shift, 7, on at the same time, then press shift several times, it will show the hardware version and ROM version). However the clone models don't have the same bug on CASIO models which can cause an upgrade. (I mean, software bugs)
Interstingly, the fx-MS series seems still be produced. I thought CASIO has stopped producing them. Can you check the producing date?

I assume in China there are no copyright laws and such, so anyone can copy/rip off other companies' stuff as they wish?
