Title: Connecting to my TI-nspire CAS from a Mac and installing programs?
Post by: Awesomeness on September 13, 2011, 11:11:46 pm
I've looked all over the internet and I need help.  I can't figure out how to connect to my calculator from my Mac.  The program I got off the TI website from a tutorial didn't work for nspires.  Another program I tried to use wouldn't open at all.  I've tried my darndest and I need your help.  :P

What can I do?

Use TilP, the open source, vastly better community linker prog.

Here it is, for OSX (http://lpg.ticalc.org/prj_tilp/macosx.html)

1.15 and up run the nspire quite well.

For installing asm progs you need ndless, for Lua/BASIC you don't need anything else.

I have no idea how to successfully compile this for mac.  Is there ANY way of connecting to this calculator that involves just running an application?  I am just dumbfounded that TI doesn't have ANY software that can connect me to my TI that actually works.  This is ridiculous.

I'm on a Mac and I have used TI Npsire Computer Link software for a long time.

Howevern this one is not distributed anymore I think.

You can use TI's Nspire Computer Software (Student edition) tho.

Give the demo a try ;)

Turns out there was a CD that came with the calculator allllll allloong! It works just fine.  Yay!  Is there a copy of OS v2.0.1?  I need this version, not the 3.x, for certain reasons...  Mostly involving Pokemon.  ;) Found

I noticed ndless said I had to install it each reboot.  Does that mean I just have to open the installer every reboot or does it mean I have to plug it in and do it all over again or something?

And will this emulator (http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/426/42630.html) work with ndless 2.0?  And what will happen if I open it without ndless installed? (e.g I just rebooted or something)

I think running the installer is enough, but I'm not sure.

You should use this patched version instead: http://ourl.ca/3840/236372 (http://ourl.ca/3840/236372)
And what will happen if I open it without ndless installed? (e.g I just rebooted or something)
It will probably display an error message that says something like "this document is not supported".

Yeah, I already resolved all this (and actually have Mario and Doom on it right now XD) myself, but really, thanks for answering.  It means a lot to me that this forum is so active, it's more active at EST midnight than the forums I usually go to at noon! XD

The midnight activity is due to the fact that a great deal of our members are in europe, and a great deal are also in the US. Account for the fact that we'll be getting on anywhere from 3PM-1AM and you've pretty much got 24 hour coverage. :P

Congrats on getting it all set up! Now you should try programming something for yourself on it!
