Hi. I have a TI Nspire CX and just got gpsp-nspire last night. It works fine and I'm really impressed. The problem is that it reboots my calculator whenever I quit the program (it doesn't matter if I press 'Q' or go to menu->exit). I'm using the latest version of ndless and I am not using Nover (Nover doesn't work either). Please help. I discussed this with calc84maniac in another discussion but I would like to see if anyone else has had this problem or knows how to solve it. Thanks.
-
Nover doesn't work?
What do you mean ?
-
I think KoolKai means that the problem isn't solved by overclocking, with Nover.
-
@TheNightenedOne correct. @critor I got Nover as well to help speed up the emulation by whenever I open Nover, my calculator reboots. This is similar to gpsp-nspire except my calculator reboots on exiting.

Yeah, this does sound like an abnormal problem. You should reformat your calculator using these instructions (http://epsstore.ti.com/OA_HTML/csksxvm.jsp?nSetId=109888).

You might have an older Ndless 3.1 build, which does not support the startup feature used by Nover when you open it.

Well, he says in this post (http://ourl.ca/16684/312476) that he's using the latest version of Ndless. That's why I can't understand what the problem could actually be.
-
Thanks calc84maniac. Where can I get an older OS to reformat my calculator?
-
I don't think it's legal to tell you, but I'm not sure.
-
Why do you need an older OS to reformat your calculator ? . . .
-
I heard 3.2 isn't compatible with ndless yet.
-
I think he means OS 3.1, which he is probably unable to find anywhere. All OSes are actually available on TI-Planet except OS 1.1, but it's in French.

Thanks critor!!
*edit*
I reformatted my calculator... still no luck. :( If anyone has any more suggestions that would be great. Thanks.
I think that if I am able to get Nover to not reboot the calculator then I might be able to get gpsp-nspire to do the same. So if anyone has suggestions for getting Nover to work, please help me. Thanks.
Also if you zip the roms, the extension should be .gba.zip.tns correct?
If so, I also have a problem with that. When I open a zipped rom, the calculator reboots... :-[
I'm not sure what's wrong but it appears that I'm the only one with this problem currently.

Hey KoolKai, I merged a few of your posts together. If you have an additional thought to add and it's only been a short while please use the modify button located in the top right hand corner of the post box to edit your post. =)
*edit* Oh, and welcome to Omnimaga!

Thanks Art_of_camelot!! Sorry about that. (This is the last one)
Good news- I got almost everything to work!! :)
It turns out, I hadn't replaced an old version of the ndless_resources file.
Nover works and gpsp-nspire now do not reboot the calculator!
The only problem is that I don't know how to zip the roms correctly. Can anyone help?
Once again, thank you all that helped me.

most gba roms come pre converted at ti planet
heres the link Link removed then just drag and drop the roms into the same folder as gpsp
warning: download at ur own risk if u don't have the games in real life then it is illegal due to copyright laws
*edit* Link removed as it is against Omnimaga rules.
-
also try not to overclock too high cause i made that mistake and i had to reformat and restore my whole calc which wasnt very fun but the fps on the emulator is amazing at max frequency
-
Apparently memory corruption happened to me even though i was overclocking it safe O.o I don't know what caused it, though
-
Regarding the zipped roms, just make sure the rom ends with .gba then send to a zipped folder, then change it from .zip to .zip.tns. Then send :)
-
.gba.tns
-
.gba.tns
Not only, .zip.tns works too. And once zipped, they need less space. So Darl181 is right.
-
Just a reminder to everyone, do not link to or upload copyrighted ROMs. They are considered illegal and are against Omnimaga rules.

Also, I think calc84 once mentioned that it's safer to put roms in zip format.

I don't remember anything like that, but I don't think there would be any difference.

[/pyramid] :P
I think that was when it was still a private alpha..but then a lot has changed since then.
Anyway smaller size (albeit slower launching time I guess) is a good enough difference for me ;D
-
i never knew that .zip takes up less space
-
Yes, for example you can shrink pokemon emerald from ~16mb down to 6.6.
After checking, the launch time seems the same for each afaict ??? so I guess I'll just keep doing zips :P
-
Yeah, I guess the cost of reading that much data from the filesystem evens out with the cost of decompression, at least in this case.
