Title: ME Pro type of program for the TI Nspire CX CAS??
Post by: stefos on October 29, 2013, 06:53:05 pm
Hi everyone,

I'm new here so please don't slam me!  ;D

I just wanted to know if a program for the TI Nspire handheld exists which mimics the ME Pro found on the TI 89.

I called TI & the Tech dude said essentially, "You can put in the formula and get the answer."
This obviously isn't the same as ME Pro.

Any help would be appreciated......
stefos

P.S. Can the Nspire CX CAS run TI 84 programs at all?  I ask this because of the Nspire CAS's TI-84 interchangeable faceplate.

Thanks again,
stefos

You say ME Pro is forthe TI-89, but you are asking if the Nspire CX CAS can run ti-84 programs.

You can run ti-84 programs with this program:
http://ourl.ca/1851310
You need ndless and a ti-84 rom too.

The only thing is you cannot change the keyboard on the CX CAS

I can say that no TI-Nspire CAS ever had the availability of an 84+ keypad. Only the non-CAS versions had the option. And to answer the second question, no, you can't put 84+ programs on any Nspire CX.
To answer the first question, http://ourl.ca/16446 (http://ourl.ca/16446)

Well, EEPro and MEPro for the TI-89 are pretty much the same thing, with different set of formulas/content.
EEPro has been recreated for the Nspire, see here : http://tiplanet.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=11136&lang=en
(official annouce : http://ourl.ca/16446  github repo : https://github.com/adriweb/EEPro-for-Nspire )

You can even create your own FormulaPro with your set of equations : http://education.bwns.be/FormulaPro/

There has been some non-public work to recreate MEPro, however, the architecture is a bit more complex for the default DB and thus it never saw the light publicly...

It's planned for the future, though. (But no ETA !)

Hi everyone,

THANK YOU for your kindness!  I tried to get in touch with Da Vinci, the dudes who made MePro but they went under!
I can't find them at all anymore.........Maybe knocking on their door would help IF they were around.

I'm actually an inventor, of sorts, and wanted to have the CX CAS inspire by my side as I use pencil & paper actually
to draw the "looks" of the item in mind & then desire to consider different costs like:
R & D
Fabrication
Materials strength
What particular material to use?  Plastic, Aluminum, etc.

Regarding this:

Who has been working on an MEPro program please? I'd be happy to help.

Can you kindly let me know?

Also, Can Mechanical Engineering equations be constructed?

I just got the CX CAS so please, forgive my overt ignorance!!!!!!

EVERYONE.....Thank You!  I appreciate you!!

P.S. Does anyone know of any TI 84 programs that simulate MEPRO? :)

Thanks again,
stefos

Any new developments on the MEpro for ti nspire cas cx??

@Stefos and @dislexicengineer

Jim Bauwens and I are working on improving (actually, recreating) the whole framework that powers FormulaPro.
Once we're done with that, it'll take very little time to get an "MEPro"-like for the Nspire, I believe :)

Hi Adriweb & Jim Bauwens,

Let me know what I can do to facilitate this process.

MePro is an awesome program & would make the CX CAS the most sophisticated graphing calculator to date.

Regards,
Stefos

What do you think the time frame would be to get ME*Pro d/l to my cas cx?

Once that is done, I'll have some time, and a template to start working on a CI*Pro for civil engineering

Hi Adriweb,

I now have the 3.6 OS

Will I have to reflash anything to run this program?
I don't know if the 3.2.4 OS is what you're working with or not.

I really don't need to run converted .pdf's on my calculator but would like to run the C/assembly programs,
if that's what you're making obviously.

I don't want to destroy my calculator to run a program...Know what I mean?

Thank you,
Stefos

No, as FormulaPro is written in the official TI-Nspire language, Lua, and not in C/assembly.

And you don't destroy your calculator by reinstalling OS 3.1/Ndless.
I know how to permanently destroy a TI-Nspire through software beyond repair, and I've never revealed how to publicly.
You really have to want it... You can't destroy it by mistake...

You have the right to stay with OS 3.6, but please avoid contributing to the speading of such rumors.

Thank you. :)

Hi critor,

I'm not trying to spread rumors sir....I'm only stating that I don't want to destroy my calculator through my own mistakes
trying to get OS 3.1/Ndless installed.
That's all.

Please understand.

Thank you!

FormulaPro should work as-is on OS 3.6, as it is just Lua, as critor said :)

It also uses some special "tricks" that I'haven't checked on 3.6, though, so let me see if those still work or not.... (I'll edit later)
(Anyway, it shouldn't crash as there is an error catcher...)

Great!  Let me know please.

At this point, using Ndless is good only for the C/assembly programs for the CX CAS....I don't see a use for a .pdf file reader program as I
prefer a book, unless.......

Thanks,
Stefos

Just stopping in to register my own interest in seeing the new FormulaPro with ME Pro capabilities. Hope all is well with development, and thanks for working on it in the first place!

@Adriweb

Any news or updates on the development of the ME Pro for the NSpire? Just bought the NSpire online and I've been beating myself up trying to decide if I want to send it back for the TI-89 Titanium for the sole purpose of having the ME Pro formulas. Talked to TI 3 times about it and found out they are all idiots.

Was it created and is it hiding somewhere online? BTW unfortunately I've never had the chance to take a programing class, so please forgive me for my ignorance but I am afraid I can not create it myself or I would have started already.

Please let me know what you all would advise.  Thanks

Also there are a lot of Mech engineers out there who would pay $10 for the install if it offers any intensive...just a thought, thanks

The engine is started and part of it is ready, but the ""port"" itself is not done, no.
As I replied in another thread, the framework ("ETK") was demo'ed last month during TI's international conference, and the new version of FormulaPro (which will contain EEPro and MEPro things) will be based on that.
Maybe Jim and I will find time to get something ready in the summer. But not before, sorry.

Also yeah, TI has something started already, but they abandoned the project, probably because of FormulaPro (we'll never know...). This was quite some time ago, anyway (like FormulaPro... time flies)

Not being pushy, but has there been any progress on this?  Because i would love to have something like ME Pro on my nspire

Yes it has, if you had read the first few posts you would have noticed that this (http://ourl.ca/16446) is a thing.

Has there been any further progress on the integration of MEPro functionality into FormulaPro?

I understand FormulaPro 1.4b exists and I have this installed on my calc but it is currently just an implementation of EEPro and being that I am a Mechanical Engineer I am obviously more interested in the MEPro functions :)
