Title: ndless help
Post by: Scipi on September 12, 2010, 04:36:34 am
Is there anyway to manually install ndless. The installer is stuck at setting up  USB connectivity.

Are you using Ndless 1.1?

Try to use Ndless 1.0 ( http://ti.bank.free.fr/index.php?mod=archives&ac=voir&id=1645  ) with Computer Link 1.3 instead of 1.4. It appears Ndless 1.1 fails to work on some configurations.

From what I remember, people who had troubles installing 1.1 simply had to install 1.0 first then 1.1 afterward. Does 1.1 works with Link Software 1.3, though?

Hmm you mean downgrade, right? Also make sure to uninstall 1.4 first, before installing 1.3, if you're gonna install Ndless 1.0.

No upgrade. I'm installing 1.4. I ran it this time and it worked until it said something about not finding files. Do I have to put those tns files on the calc first. (eg hooks.tns)

Because 1.0 requires 1.3. You won't be able to install Ndless 1.0 with 1.4 and I am sure you need to have Ndless 1.0 installed first before installing 1.1.

I hate to bump, but this is the most recent topic I could find on the subject with light searching and I didn't want to cluster the board with a new topic.

So.. Ndless 1.1 is giving me a "Java Virtual Machine Launcher - Could not find the main class" error. Is this something wrong with my computer or the versions of Ndless/Link software I have installed?

I had a higher firmware installed, I think 1.7 or 1.9.. Definitely under 2.0. I was able to downgrade quite easily, by just dragging the ndless-compatible firmware onto the link software.

My link software is also 1.1, as I got it straight from the disk and never updated.

Sorry I can't help you much on the subject - I've never used Ndless (no Nspire for me) - but I'd like to welcome you to Omnimaga. :)
Also, this is as good a spot as any to put your question. :D

Hopefully someone will come along soon that can help you on your route to having Ndless possibilities on your Nspire. ;D

Hi!  Welcome to Omnimaga!!!

First, I think you need computer link software 1.3 for Ndless to work correctly.  This could be what is causing the Java error.  Also, make sure that the link software is closed before you start to install Ndless.

If you need a copy of computer link 1.3 visit ti.bank.free.fr.  The website is in French, you can use google translate to translate it.  Select "PC Utilities" at the side and it should be right there.  Click "telechareger" to download.

Hopefully, this will work. :)

EDIT: Also, I should note that a new version of Ndless for OS 1.7 hopefully will come out in the near future (it is available now for developers) will completely eliminate the computer installer for Ndless.
