Title: nspire cas OS deleted cannot install new, OS is corrupted error any file
Post by: sevenspeed on February 21, 2012, 02:52:22 pm
I'm stuck with a useless calculator atm as I deleted the OS wondering if that was causing problems and that didn't help.  Every OS file I downloaded says corrupted OS please download fromthe ti education website.  It was on 1.6 and ti support said I cannot go directly to 3.1 I've tried the student CAS software and nspire computer link.  Is there anything I can do?  I've done much googling to no avail.

You can update to 3.1 from every non-TNOCed version 1.4 and above.
But TI support is not known for its accuracy.

Technically, you can directly update to 3.1 if you have boot2 1.4 or later.

Are you using TI-Nspire Computer Link ?

Did you try to install 1.7? Though it says you should be able to update directly because you had 1.6.

Thanks, I've tried every file from the download links besides non cas or ones with bugs with  and without using tnoc.  I tried it with Cas student software and nspire computer link.  I just got it a few weeks ago with 1.6 on it as a refurb.  I thought about the cx but non color screen  doesn't screen high end calculator.  The reply from ti I just got was too send it in if none of that works.

Hum...

Can you give us the Boot1 / Boot2 versions?
They should be available under tools/informations once you've connected your unit.

Thanks, I appreciate it.  Looks like I'll have to continue this tomorrow.  I just uninstalled the CAS software on here and installed the computer link which gives an error about the connectivity library and won't start.  It works on my girlfriends computer though but I won't see her again until tomorrow afternoon.  It could be because I installed it first before uninstalling the CAS Student Software.

I had to install it twice until it worked. After the first install it gave an error like yours.

I did some googling and found to install the old version (student cas) then uninstall and type this
msiexec -x {AC59B86B-4E39-47C8-B79A-3EC33B86FB47} then I reinstalled nspire computer link and it worked.
So looks like I have boot version 1.1 so what should I do?  I tried installing OS 1.1 and it told me it was older then what I had (1.6)  How did it have 1.6 with boot 1.1?

From computer link:
Boot1:1.1.8916
Boot2:1.1.8981

Does anyone have a link to OS 1.6 and 1.4 or are they no longer stored on the ti education website?  Is boot 2 what decides if the file is corrupted?  I saw something about sending a boot 2 via serial cable.

Check TI-Planet.org (http://tiplanet.org/forum/archives_list.php?id=OS+Nspire) and see if you can find it - they have most of the common ones and some more uncommon ones.

Yeah, education.ti.com is notorious for just removing these old versions. I heard that 1.7 was still available in a hidden link but that was almost a year ago. There was another website (which I shall not mention) where you could be sent email links to many OS versions, but it seemed stuck last time I tried it (which was also many months ago).
