Title: RESOLVED lcd going bad
Post by: annoyingcalc on September 07, 2011, 11:01:52 am
I left nyan cat (http://ourl.ca/12215) running for 3 days on accident and now my calculator has dark spots is part of the screen

It went 55116 frames  *.*

3 days....
I would recommend to leave it off a bit, and see if the spots disappear.
If they don't, I'm afraid you will need to let it be repaired :/

On a side note, I hope that the CX screen isn't bad quality.

Oh, sorry, thought it was the nyan cat game.
Well, you should still leave it a bit, and hope the spots disappear.
I have had lcd damage on two Ti-92 Plus calculators, and they didn't go away. I hope its different for your 84.

have you thought about screen conditioning?

Where it will hold a random shade of gray for 15 sec or so then switch and so on.

I don't know if one exists, but it would be ridiculously easy to make in axe.

Do note that I do not know much about computer monitors and calc screens.  i am just putting 2 and 2 together and hoping for 4.
(and if it works like a computer monitor, it should be done or an hour+

I guess, you would just need a program to flash the screen various colors. Do you need it in ndless (I can help you) or lua (I can't)?

Here's the pixel unsticker for Nspire, to use, just run the .tns with Ndless, and to exit, press ESC.

As far as changing colors of the screen, you can do this:
First archive all entries.  Then, type [MODE], [ALPHA], [ S], and [ENTER].  Press the [ON] key to escape from the counting numbers.  Keep on pressing [Enter] until you see a number on the screen.  Finally, pres [ON] again to escape the Test Mode and clear your ram.

I'm not sure if that will help any, but I hope your screen can work again.

EDIT: I also found this.
