Okay, I hate losing my stuff to teachers, especially when they want to clear ram for the test. So i found this:fake by BrandonW. (http://www.brandonw.net/calculators/fake/)

And had a few questions about it:

  • Does it work on OS 2.55 (without mathprint) or do I still need 2.43?
  • It says it uses hooks, so does it work with omnicalc, and zstart?
  • Is it safe?

I'm not going to lie, I don't like fake. I once used it on 2.53 and literally deleted everything (my fault of course for using it on a MP OS, but, whatever).

Anyways, it will not work on 2.55. So you're going to have to switch to 2.43.

For zStart/Omnicalc compatibility, that would be a no. It uses a RawKey hook as well as a Menu Hook. Both Omnicalc and zStart use their own RawKey hooks, so they will overwrite it and you'll actually delete your stuff. Also, enabling fake will disable part of Omnicalc and zStart. (I also just tested it to fail)

In general it's safe, just be sure you enabled it.

Fake has problems. It was written before OS 2.53MP came out (where they reworked how a lot of things worked internally in the OS, which Fake abuses), and it needs to be re-done (or ditched, depending on your perspective).

Hmm. okay then, thanks! Guess I'll just look for a fake display message, teacher only looks at that screen anyways.

What screen does your teacher want? A few of them can be pulled up without using an external program.

Edit:
For example: (it doesn't work on apps though, they're there the whole time)

Mine goes for the Mem Cleared one, meaning all apps, programs, vars, essentially everything.

This fake reset program isn't all that much fake, in terms of calc resets, because in some ways it can actually clear your mem for real. I remember this post from the old board by calc84maniac :P http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?topic=-264.msg-7355#msg-7355

Also, I advise against using any fake reset program for the purpose of cheating in tests. Instead, I recommend studying and working harder. It will pay off in the future. However, if you intend to do the test the legit way, but just don't want to lose your games and other stuff, then fine (although in such case, I personally would rather borrow school calcs instead of bringing mine to class)

I don't cheat, yay for straight A's? However I hate losing my half worked programs, and specifically my apps, teacher's make me clear everything, and that removes all my settings like fonts and zstart, and stuff. Thats why I wanted to be able to not lose that stuff. Also I'd rather use my own calc then a school calc, 1 the school calcs are old, two, they're aren't many, maybe 1 or two a class?

Good to hear. I know a lot of people don't cheat either so they are pretty annoyed to see their teachers delete their precious work. I know that certain people do cheat, though, so I was warning any future member that cheating might not bring anything good to them in terms of school learning. :)

As for school calcs I thought they had about 12-20 per class? O.O

Not for my school, they have 1 set for the school, as student's in my school are expected to purchase one at the start of sophomore year.

i once got my friends calc resetted coz i wanted to show fake on him and i didn't know that it didn't work on mathprint os-es XD
but on 2.43 it is working good, you just need to make sure that the hooks are installed
