Hi everybody,
I just noticed the download links to different OSes of the ti-84 plus
I am using Os 2.22, but I found 2.43 and 2.55. So i want to know: has enybody ever tried these OSes, and what are the new features? And how's the compatibility for asm programs?
-
Theres an OS 3.1 for the 84? :o O.O
EDIT: 2.43 is really good.
-
2.43 is great. Use it!
There's also 2.53MP and 2.55MP, but they're bad.
OS 3.0 is for the Nspire, not the 84+.
-

No, sorry, I looked in the different category, but there is 2.55
I have also edited my first post
so you said 2.43 is good? What features does it have that aren't in the 2.22?
-
It's more stable. For the MP OSes, they're slightly better for math, but it slow and glitchy. ;)
-

There aren't any groundbreaking features, but it has minor new stuff that's good, and improved stability. It also supports PTT, but that's not really a feature...
-
and what can the MP OSses do for math (a calc is made for math after all, some people seem to have forgot this :) )
-
So what can it do for math (a calc is made for math after all, some people seem to have forgot this :) )
2.53MP and 2.55MP? Well, they support MathPrint, which makes stuff look more like what they are like in math books, instead of just linear rows of numbers. You also get improved fraction support, and other minor functions.
-
Ben_g: Use 2.43. Thats by far the best one with the biggest compatibility.
-
2.43 is the best OS. If you want something really good for maths and operations, download App4Math ( App ).
-
OK, I've downloaded 2.43. I'll install as soon as i got TI-connect to work
EDIT: it looks like the TI-OS downloader is even slower than ti-connect
-
Fast Crash: seconded.
-
I can't send files to my calc anymore after updating the OS

TI-Connect is probably just trying to screw with you a bit. It happens all the time.
-
yea, but not like this. to me, this always happens:
TI-connect can't find the divice
OR: ti-divice detected, but couldn't get status
But now, it connects as it should, and when I send something to it, it starts the transfer, interrupts the transfer and says 'ti-device detected, but couldn't get status'. I never had this with my previous OS
EDIT: now it says 'transfer failed, a retry may be succesfull', but a retry isn't sucessfull, nor a 10th retry...
-
Sometimes when TI-Connect won't work for me, switching the USB port that my cable is in will fix the problem.
Edit: WOOT! 1337 posts! :w00t:
-
I've tryed that for abouth 30 times now. I know TI-connect
EDIT: I can't even downgrade: When I try to send an other OS, My calc says that there was an error, and I should press any key to turn it of. DOES THAT MEAN I CAN'T DOWNLOAD ANYTHING ON MY CALC ANYMORE?
-
thepenguin77 posted somewhere instructions to fix TI-Connect, trying to find it now... It helped me a lot.
EDIT: found two, try first one first.
-Try new batteries
-Plug in calculator, open device manager, find the calculator, right click>uninstall, replug your calculator into that specific usb port
-Lastly, do step 2 again, but before replugging your calculator, reinstall ti-connect.
If you are going to use TiLP, don't expect to be able to fall back on ti-connect. TiLP makes installing ti-connect twice as hard. Your problem could be related to low batteries, but here's a nearly sure way to get ti-connect working again.
1. Plug in your calculator
2. Go to device explorer and uninstall it
3. Repeat 1 and 2 for any port you think you may have plugged your calc into
4. Uninstall ti-connect
5. Go to your drivers, and delete libusb0
6. Restart computer
7. Reinstall ti-connect
8. Plug calculator in and let it install
9. It should work
-
It doesn't tell when to unplug the calc, though ???
Also ben_g, if in any case you run into a copy of OS 2.71MP, don't install it. :P
-
Yunhua98, just be sure to remember that the driver you delete is only for 32 bit operating systems. I don't know which ones you would want to delete on a 64 bit one though because I haven't had trouble yet.
-
The only way I got TI-connect back to work, was by borrowing a calc from my friend, backup all programs, reset the full memory, and downgrading to 2.40, and TI-connect worked again
-
@ben_g: Ti connect also has trouble linking to a calc when it's batteries are low. A change of batteries may have fixed things entirely.

Hopefully, I wrote an awesome tutorial on Ti-Connect, which can be found here (http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?action=articles;sa=view;article=76).

Yup I followed it and it doesnt work. I was wondering if someone can send me a ti 84 + SE back up file so I can load it onto mine because whenever I turn it on it says Waiting....
Please install operating system now. Then when I press a key it says ERROR! Press any key to turn unit off. Then turn unit back on.
EDIT: It actually loads to 100% on the OS transfer then it gives me an error message.

I got 1.03 :( Yet I still downgraded
Thenyanpeople, you said in another thread that you are running boot code 1.03. Is this correct? If that is the case, then you need to:
1) Send OS 2.55MP to your calculator available at http://education.ti.com/calculators/downloads/US/Software/Detail?id=6014&ref=%2fcalculators%2fdownloads%2fUS%2fSoftware%2fSearch%2fResults%3fcp%3d2%23view-1 (http://education.ti.com/calculators/downloads/US/Software/Detail?id=6014&ref=%2fcalculators%2fdownloads%2fUS%2fSoftware%2fSearch%2fResults%3fcp%3d2%23view-1).
2) Transfer ThePenguin77's program called unsigned available at http://ourl.ca/12713 (http://ourl.ca/12713) or BrandonW's program called EpicFail (located on BrandonW's site; not sure if I should post a link...) to your calculator.
3) Run the program with the Asm( command.
4) If you are using ThePenguin's utility, select Unsigned OS and input a certificate revision; if you are using EpicFail, select yes both times after waiting for the MD5 hash to validate (note: this program modifies the actual boot code itself, so be warned).
5) Re-send OS 2.43 (or whatever OS you like) to your calculator.
Hopefully this helps!

Alternatively, BrandonW also created a modified 2.43 .8xu to be accepted by 1.03, which means you don't have to go through the risks of boot-code modding.

Where can I download it?, Because I'm looking for

Due to copyright we can't link it. Maybe someone on IRC will be able to help you though.

A simple workaround for people who have both a Mac and a PC: I could not get Windows TI-CONNECT to talk to my TI-92+, not my Win 8 PC and not my Win 7 laptop. But the Mac TI Connect software worked fine with my TI Silverlink USB cable.

whoa necropost alert!
yeah ti connect has those problems and tilp doesn't work for me...
EDIT: hey next time check the date before posting (ugh i'm such a hypocrite)

(ugh i'm such a hypocrite)
Lol yeah, it's true that you necroposted a bit when you first came. But at least now you don't do it anymore and you notice when others do it. So yeah, a bit hypocrite but it's a good thing to teach others what you learnt.
