Bad move on Ti's part.

Yea, I really have no idea why they make you send away for the keypad now. Only thing I can figure is they are trying to phase the 84 stuff out ?  I dunno. By the way Myntal, do you know how much your Nspire cost?

Welcome to the community, Myntal :)

I've never experienced the power management bug with OS 1.1, either on Nspire Clickpad or on Nspire CAS Clickpad. Maybe I'm just lucky :D

Welcome Myntal! I've ordered a special bag of Omnimaga peanuts for you, they'll arrive soon... here they are:

This is because your calcs have old hardware, designed for OS 1.1. Newer models have slightly modified hardware that works fine with the newer OSes, but not the old ones.

Are you guys implying newer Nspires no longer come with a 84+ keypad?????

I sure hope it's not the case. If it is, then it's clear they are trying to phase out the 84+.

If you meant the clickpad not being included with touchpads, then they are most likely trying to phase out OS 1.x

No, I'm pretty sure they're talking about the 84+ keypads no longer being included inside the new Nspire packages.

Yes, the new Nspires (the dark blue ones) do not come with the 84+ keypad in the package--the only way to get one is to request for one from TI for free.  Phasing out the 84+ is the only motivation for this I can think of.  It certaintly costs more to send it in the mail/lose sales because of not including it than it would to just include it with the calculator.  I hope that TI does not kill any calcs when they release the next OS (which I have read will have 3d graphs).  Since the Nspire CAS would then have the CAS features of the 68k calcs, it gives them a perfect excuse to kill the line :(.  Also, since the new OS does not support the 83+, I fear that that is on its way out too. :(

Wow... just wow...

Well, at least you can get one for free, but I wonder if that will be possible in the future. I am even more disappointed at them now.

Okay, Thank you everyone first of all. xD
I got mine on the staples website for $130, and as far as the 84+ pad (which isn't actually in the box.), you go to this website on the back of the box, enter your serial # and then place an order. Luckily it's 100% free no S&H bs. Mine's on the way. It is the slowest shipping method possible btw. Friggin' balloon delivery.

Friggin' balloon delivery.
lol :P

I feal a little late to help, but welcome here Myntal!  I'm glad your problem's fixed. :)

TI Nspire - 84 Keypad = A calc with no reason to have interchangeable keypads.  TI really shot themselves in the foot with this one, as some tests (I forget if it's the SAT or ACT) don't allow calcs with keypads that slide out.  Bad TI. :(

As far as I know, the regular Nspire (w/ changing keypads) is allowed on both the SAT and ACT.  The CAS is banned on the ACT just because it has a CAS.

Okay, looks like I'm wrong. =/

Here's what I found on the ACT prohibited list:
Quote
Texas Instruments: All model numbers that begin with TI-89 or TI-92 and the TI-Nspire CAS—Note: The TI-Nspire (non-CAS) is permitted.

I was wondering about the price because my local Wal-mart has them too. I thought Wal-mart might be cheaper, but they have their touch pad Nspires priced at $130 as well.
