Title: TI-Nspire No Longer Working After Downgrading to OS 1.1
Post by: mochokoy on October 07, 2010, 05:03:00 pm
Hello, and thank you in advance for help in this issue!

I was reading throughout the archives on this website and eventually figured out how to downgrade to OS 1.1 using Nleash. After I used Computer Link and putting OS 1.1 on my Nspire, it will not start. It will act like it is loading the OS, go onto a screen with a frozen clock, and then start again after three seconds. I've let it running a couple times, but that has not worked, it's done this probably over 50 times now. I feel like I've tried everything, and nothing has worked.

What can I do to fix this?

Thank you in advance!

If you are using the touchpad, you cannot use OS 1.1.  It is incompatible.

Pres Doc, ee, and less than until a screen asking you to delete the OS shows up, then select delete OS.

Then send a OS greater than 2.0.

(edit: sorry for the long cross-post)

Uninstall the OS with the maintenance menu: http://hackspire.unsads.com/wiki/index.php/Operating_System#Startup_key_combinaisons
Then reinstall it with Computer Link.

Did you use Nleash on a Touchpad? OS 1.1 is incompatible with Touchpads (except if you use a non-CAS Touchpad and a Clickpad keypad).

Keep in mind that if you have a clickpad handy, you can use that keypad and it should work. Otherwise you need OS 2.0 or higher.

Welcome here by the way. :)

Thank you all so very much! I should have mentioned I have a touch-pad. Maybe I should look into buying a click-pad? Either way, I was FINALLY able to get into the maintenance menu and am now re-installing 2.16 on my Npsire. Guess I'll have to wait to play some games on it, unless perhaps there is a Game Boy emulator I could run on the 84 SE keypad? Thank you all once again!

Oh, I meant the clickpad keypad, not the calc. If you got a touchpad Nspire, you can buy the clickpad keyboard separately on TI website (unless they discontinued it). Hopefully Ndless will work on 2.0 eventually, although it might take another while, especially that one of the developer (Geogeo) has left development recently.

As for the 84+SE GB emulator it doesn't work on the TI-Nspire 84+ keypad because it uses programming instructions not supported by the TI-Nspire. :(

Well, TI-BANK admin upgraded to OS 2.0 when it came out and not long after, his TI-Nspire died completly. He contacted TI and shortly afterward, OS 2.0.1 came out. I wonder if 2.0 didn't have something that could break the calc permanently...
