Title: TI-Nspire System Error at Startup
Post by: bb010g on May 21, 2014, 11:43:29 pm
My Nspire CX CAS (3.6 with Ndless and Nlaunchy) was running low on battery, so I plugged it in before school. I came back and it wouldn't turn on, so I reset it. It stopped halfway through boot with "System Error" and the warning exclamation point triangle sign showing. After about 2 minutes, the screen turns off and won't do anything until a reset, when the process starts over.

I don't think it's Nlaunchy, as it was working fine beforehand and didn't die during an intervening startup (AFAIK), but I could be wrong. I asked about it in #cemetech (EFNet) and KermM said that he had never seen that before.

A system error is never a good sign. With RS232 it may be possible to find out what's wrong (or diags, if it works) but you should send it in.

How do I access diagnostics?

(Am I likely to get a non-NLaunchy model back if I send mine in?)

TI Planet has all the info about that.

It's highly unlikely that you get an Nlaunchable model back, so don't send it in just yet. You could try a full filesystem format.

Can I pull off a full filesystem format from TiLP?

No, you need to get in the maintenance menu (the same you use to delete the OS for Nlaunchy).
