Title: Weird things when changing the language - TI-Nspire CX CAS
Post by: TheNlightenedOne on September 12, 2012, 10:09:14 pm
I have a TI-Nspire CX CAS, and so does my friend. I wanted to show him the reboot bug where in French, you add two empty strings together. Anyway, I went to change the language, selected French, and hit Enter. It gave me the same popup as you get when you run ndless_resources.tns. I wanted to keep Ndless, so I selected no and pressed Enter. It rebooted, in French, and kept Ndless. Although no harm was done, I am curious as to why this happened. Ideas?

(translation of Critor's answer (http://tiplanet.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10203&p=128164#p128169) on TI-Planet, quoted below)
Yes, that's a bug from Ndless. It was already reported to Extended but apparently, he can't reproduce it, so it may not be fixed :(

Par contre, quand j'ai fait "changer de langue","Chinois", ma calculette a dit "Do you really want to uninstall Ndless?" ???
Bon, il y avait le choix entre oui et non donc ça va mais je vois pas pourquoi.

C'est un bug que l'on a eu et signalé à ExtendeD oui, mais si j'ai bien suivi il n'arrive pas à le reproduire.

Is it related to the removal of language packs done by that one tool Critor released recently (or was it part of TNOC?) that allowed one to remove various unused OS parts?

No DJ, there is absolutely no link between nCleaner (the tool you're talking about) and this popup. Even without nCleaner on the Nspire you get this popup.
