So as some of you know, I recently bought an Nspire (non-cas, non-touch). I downloaded Nspire OS 1.1.9253, moved it to the directory I created called userfiles, and renamed it tinspire_1.1.tno. I downloaded and Nstalled (sorry :P) TI Nspire link 1.4 from TI's website. But when I went to run Install_Ndless.bat, it gave me this error:
Setting up USB connectivity...
ERROR: navnet.dll' not found
Installation aborted.
Does anyone have any ideas why? I am running windows vista, 32 bit.

You need Computer Link 1.3 to install Ndless. You can get it on TI Bank.
-
Player, you need computer link 1.3, go to a ti-bank for it, I think....
-
ok, I'm downloading it right now... but wow, it shows 1 hour left for a 51.2 MB file... *sigh*
-
Well, player, are you prepared for the epicness of ndless?
-
yeah, I've been needing a reason to learn C, and here it is ^^
-
For all who like irony, computer link v1.3 is still on the TI website. :P

It is, damnit , I wasted so much time looking for 1.3
/me goes cries in a corner

Wow weird, I was sure it was gone.
I guess it helps to remember TI links x.x
-
It shows up as the first result when googling "nspire computer link v1.3"
-
Lol nice ^^
Sometimes you google for something and it woN't show anywhere, then you google something else that is kinda related and it show first x.x
-
I wonder why the setup file for computer link is 50MB for windows, and 20 for macs? When I was downloading, I wish I had a mac.
-
:O it gave me the same error after I installed link 1.3 software
Setting up USB connectivity...
ERROR: navnet.dll' not found
Installation aborted.
I think it might have to do with the "navnet.dll' " (note the ')
Any ideas?
Double facepalm
I accidently reinstalled 1.4 x.x
-
Maybe you installed 1.4 before?
Uninstall it, install 1.3 and make sure it is successfully configured and run ndless with administrative privileges
-
nah, I accidently had another copy of 1.4 in my chrome downloads bar, and clicked it instead of the correct one. Its all good now, I compiled the demo program, and am trying to write my own first program ^_^

Hurry~
But I found few programs for nSpire with ndless on ticalc.org ......
I use the GB(C) EMU but the streaks or trails is serious... So I only play the card games and the chess games.
-
wierd... LOZ Link's Awakening works beyond perfectly for me...
Edit:
Split C question to another thread at http://ourl.ca/6518

The Nspire's very slow screen (cheaper than a proper screen) sucks, it's rather unlikely that we can do anything about that. TI has explicitly designed that calculator so that it sucks at games.

The blurring is annoying, but I've personally never found it to affect gameplay.
The lack of color, on the other hand, makes some of the puzzles in Oracle of the Ages tricky. Then again, hoping for a color calculator would be too much.
-
didn't HP have a calculator with color? I thought I saw it somewhere... but I think it only did one color at a time, so everything was black on red, or black on blue, or something (note: just guessing, it could be red on white or likewise *shrug*)
-
Some Casio calculators have limited color screens.

I think it mostly becomes a problem in games where both the background and the foreground are gray colors. The best thing to do is to make your games have a framerate of 15 or lower to make sure they are playable enough.
Some Casio calculators have limited color screens.
Specifically the Casio CFX-9850, 9950 and derivatives. Video of one of those in action:

Had those calcs supported asm or got hacked to support it, imagine what could have been done with them.

I didn't think the lack of color made much difference, red, blue, and yellow still translated to different shades of gray. For me it was the lack of sound. I hate you, goron dance game!
