Oh gosh, 2011 is turning out to be a disastrous year, and it's only March!
First there were the disastrous floods affecting Queensland in Australia (and also the state of Victoria). Brisbane, the capital of Qld was very badly affected, but Gold Coast was Ok, just phenomonal amounts of rain. Also there were the Brazilian floods which only appeared once on the Australian News (Australia's floods appeared 100s of times).
Then Christchurch, that was pretty serious considering there was one last year already. And now Japan! This one has got to be really serious, all the financial markets plummeted over the last few days. Not to mention the tsunami that it caused. And of course the radiation.
Also we must not forget the beginning of the series of revolutions in Africa and the Middle East. Started with Tunisia (ending with the President's resignation on my birthday), then Egypt and the leader Mubarak, (also Jordan was having protests too at the same time), and Libya (Gaddafi). The difference between Egypt and Libya is that Egypt's was mostly peaceful and created an overwhelming sense of euphoria when Mubarak peacefully resigned, while in Libya there is a leader calling his own people enemies and engaging in civil war.
Given that this has only happened in just a few months, the forecast doesn't look good for the rest of 2011!
And we all know of the December 21st 2012 threat, could these events lead to this?

I think the year could get a turning point, but yeah it's an awful year it seems.

Personally I try to not worry too much about the future, although I am fairly sure no matter what that 2012 will have quite a lot of bad events. I can only think of what happens in muslim countries right now with civil wars and flooding.

I feel the same way. I don't believe that the world will end in 2012 for whatever reason, be it the Mayan calendar or the Second Coming, etc. If it does, what's the point in worrying? It's not like we could prevent it if it's gonna happen, so just enjoy the present.

But then you'd have to spend the rest of your life on a time machine to bring them back to this time period so that they'd be useful.
Unless TI is gonna destroy the world, then you couldn't get the keys...

About the christian thing, I wonder if it isn't more the medias trying to scare people or something. Also the last time they predicted the end of the world it was supposed to end in 1994 anyway.

Then they justified this by a mathematical error. Apparently somewhere in the formula they subtracted a number instead of adding it, leading to the current calculation of May 21st, 2011. I wonder how they'll justify it this time when they'll see it didn't happened again.

Yeah. X.x Personally I don't believe in that stuff, even 2012, despite the fact I am certain that there will be plenty of crap happening at once, seeing how things are going since the past few years, then things will probably go normal again and people will watch the 2012 movie on Jan 1st 2013, laughing, while drinking beer. :P

I swear it was originally announced that a massive earthquake would start at 6pm in New Zealand local time. Then when that didn't happen (obviously) when i watched the 6pm news (no, no earthquake in Australia at that time when NZ was already at 8pm) they said that it would start 6pm american time. I swear they or Harold Camping changed it so he wouldn't be proved wrong. Well it's well past the time so Hah! Harold Camping!

A life-time missionary physician who does not believe in a rapture emailed the following weeks ago: The end of the world according to the mayan calendar is 26.12.2012 (i thought it was 21st?). The great Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami of 2004 occurred on the 26th of December.

Didn't an actual New Zealand earthquake occured? From what I read somewhere, it happened yesterday, but it was a very small earthquake in the sea that didn't cause any tsunami.
It's weird that so many earthquakes occurs on the 26th, though O.o

Yeah true they do. As for the 2012 matter I think this will be mainly another recession like 2008, seeing how the community went.
