So I was screwin' around on the computer yesterday and I saw ASCII. I don't know what it stands for, but it is awesome. If you look at my signature, the string of all that punctation down there is shaped to look like a portal gun from Portal. That's ASCII. There's lots of stuff you can do with it, and some people can make different shades and gigantic pictures with it. I even found a picture to ASCII converter (That thing is boss)!
Anyway, I'd like to see what you guys can come up with.

ASCII stands for: The American Standard Code for Information Interchange; it's a character encoding scheme that is based off of the English alphabet. ASCII codes represent text in computers, communications equipment, and other devices that use text. Most modern character-encoding schemes are based on ASCII, though they support many additional characters. Apart from ASCII, there are other encoding standards used such as UTF-8 and UTF-16. Essentially it is just a standard for displaying text.
What you are doing is called ASCII art (and only looks good in monospaced fonts; ie. that is fonts where characters are equidistant apart): there are many many more examples on the internet such as here: http://www.chris.com/ascii/

So in short, yes. We have heard of ASCII. :) In fact many ti basic games utilize ASCII graphics because they are very fast to display.

Considering the Omnimaga logo originated from ASCII (well, on-calc) and that I made Illusiat series, I think I know what are ASCII and ASCII art. :P

I dunno, I messed up with GIMP, set the font to a 8x8 one and cat the attachment in a Linux terminal (or anything that supports ANSI).

Yeah I think I know about that one. Unless there were two of them, the one I know made RPG Maker 2000. I think the other RM programs were made by Enterbrain, though.

Well, I screwed up. This really wasn't meant to be a question thread, just a thread for ASCII art. I'm a 6th grader, and I'll bet no one else at my school (except for maybe a few people) knows what ASCII is.
I'll make up for it with a Basset Hound head.

It's okay. Ascii art can actually be quite interesting. The great thing about it (in my opinion) is that both the simple and the more complex works can look very nice. :)

When I first read the title I thought that it was going to be some sort of joke not a serious question. Anyway yes I have heard of ASCII and ASCII art.
I'd have to congratulate you on finding out what it was in 6th grade though. In 6th grade I was just watching youtube videos like <a href="http://youtu.be/JdLCEwEFCMU">How To Be Ninja</a>.

Dude- I'm not allowed to watch youtube at all. It's so frustrating because I can't watch the things that people want me to. Like Llamas in hats, for example. My name is the antagonist's name, so my friends are going around saying things like, "Carl, that kills people!" and I just try to play along...
