Shmibs was being sarcastic about the small place comment.

But that's really cool that you're going. I've always wanted to go. I hope you have fun!

Yeah I think Shmibs was kidding. China is like the 5th or 6th largest country in the world, right?

I believe its the largest when it comes to population O.O

Population I think it is 1st but for people per square mile I believe it is India. Country wise I think it is the biggest, or at least up there. I don't quite remember that much from three years ago (that's another thing, I may be wrong since it was three years ago :P).

Canada must be last in population per square mile x.x, or maybe Russia. It's so cold in the north. The largest city in Canada has 5 million population and the second one is 3 millions including the metro area.

yes canada is quite isolated, but look at Australia!!! Not much better or worse than Canada. Anyway, China is No.1 in total population (like 1.35 billion) india is more concentrated but i think monaco is the most concentrated (small area!) Anyway, just for information, I'm Asian - Chinese (well, parents from taiwan and hk) actually!!! But I was born in Australia and remarkedly, this is going to be the first time i've been there!!! Exciting!

Bye Guys!!! and i wish you good luck in all that you intend to achieve!

PS: v0.9.7 (nothing changed from v0.9.6, which failed to make it into the archives) of Jason's Texas Hold 'em Poker and v0.2 of Health Bar have now been released on ticalc.org. Expect them to appear in the next few days. For Battle of 16s and Cosmic Legions, I'm holding back until after the China trip.

Well I hope you return afterward and can also bring your calc to the trip. When you return I would like to point your attention to the RPG Style Health Bars (http://ourl.ca/7009/117446) topic, though. It might be for the best.

no, I don't the reason is actually becauseof my newly installed filter, which needs a password just to use any internet browser.  So I can only use it on weekends or at school.  :(
/me glares at my brother for landing us both with this...

Aaah ok. Looks like a situation similar to SirCmpwn x.x. Do they keep grounding you and blocking every one of your favorite websites for absolute no reason too?

no, just that you can't use any browser without a password.  Its really not too bad since I have an iPod
and i can still send programs to the comp/calc, and using the remote destop access thing for iPod or an internet Cafe I can upload stuff.

Nope, thankfully :)

And in case you really need to access something that's blocked, you can either use FreeVPN (faster, more reliable, but needs some setting up, and might not work with some routers) or a proxy.

We need to try to limit the proxy discussion here, though, in case a random wanabee would use them at our expense x.x

We shouldn't be blocked. It's not like we're actively promoting Chinese civil rights :P
* calcdude wants to know if someone was insulted, in which case he will immediately edit this post.
Also, 1200th post! ;D

We're heading off topic (well kind of, because it's still about China) I thought i should post a bit about my trip to China, since I didn't say much, so ill put it here:
China in General
   1. China has a LOT of people. More details: Well I went to Shanghai for the whole time
   2. Most people speak Chinese and can't speak English. Also lots speak Shanghai Dialect.
   3. Street signs are in BOTH English and Chinese. E.g.: 东兰路 -> Donglan Rd
   4. Also I don't think there are any 'streets' (St), mostly roads (Rd)
World Expo
   1. Each country has its own building, called a Pavilion. Well the size depends on a few factors, such as if your country can afford a big separate pavilion, or have to go into a joint pavilion with several countries. For an idea here's a pic of the China Pavilion (at nighttime with lights on: http://images.china.cn/images1/200712/416040.jpg
   2. Talking about lights, lots of pavilions have night lights on their pictures. However, China and the UK in real life, well only a small amount of light were actually working.

Yeah I think China has like 30% of the entire earth population XD

I heard it was hectic on roads, though, with the traffic jams and stuff x.x

Found this on the Internets. This is "rush" hour in Beijing. And yes, apparently it's a highway.

X.x. I would hate having to wake up 3-4 hours earlier to get at work. It reminds me when I still went to college and someone climbed the Quebec Bridge and threatened to commit suicide. There was a traffic jam all the way from the bridge until where I live now. (although when I arrived in the jam it was 2x shorter. Otherwise it would have been about 10 miles of traffic)

yeah, beijing looks pretty bad, however, i don't think i saw that extreme case during my time in Shanghai though. even though shanghai has more people...
China has about 1.36 billion out of 6.5. just a bit over a fifth of the world population

i heard on the news about a multi day long traffic jam

Yeah it's insane. I hope they can do something about all this traffic, because some parts of the country are still not very developed so when they will be it will be insane. X.x

Btw nice signature :D
