Calc Wars

[Crossposted from Cemetech]
Well, I started this little project on cemetech and I think it is only fair to also post it here. Calcc Wars is a personal project of mine to spoof Star Wars and turn it into a movie with TI, Casio, and HP calculators. The Nspires are pure evil though. The preview is here: https://sites.google.com/site/ordelore8x/blog/tiwarspreview. I need help on deciding what sort of 3D animation software to use. My one sticking point is that the sotware must be 1) Free and 2) Not Blender.

Well, as far as I know, Blender is the best (or at least most popular) free animation software. If you really dn't want it, you could try a product from DAZ 3D. They released their software for free ('for a limited time', but as far as I know, they still do that). I'm not sure if they can render annimations though.
There's also a software called 'annim8or', but I found it quite limited.

If none of these are what you want, then you might want to check out if you can get a free student lisence for Maya or 3DS MAX. I know Maya can render annimations well, and 3DS max is the editor most commonly used in professional game design. Again, I'm not fully sure on how well 3DS Max can render annimations.
My projects
 - The Lost Survivors (Unreal Engine) ACTIVE [GameCommandoSquad main project]
 - Oxo, with single-calc multiplayer and AI (axe) RELEASED (screenshot) (topic)
 - An android version of oxo (java)  ACTIVE
 - A 3D collision detection library (axe) RELEASED! (topic)(screenshot)(more recent screenshot)(screenshot of it being used in a tilemapper)
Spoiler For inactive:
- A first person shooter with a polygon-based 3d engine. (z80, will probably be recoded in axe using GLib) ON HOLD (screenshot)
 - A java MORPG. (pc) DEEP COMA(read more)(screenshot)
 - a minecraft game in axe DEAD (source code available)
 - a 3D racing game (axe) ON HOLD (outdated screenshot of asm version)

Rebel Star Fighters: TI 15 Explorer (Some Blue, Some Red)
Imperial Fighters: TI 108

Spaceships

Rebel Spaceships: TI-36X Pro

I'd suggest the CP400 for the Death Star, not the CSE.
And in my opinion the V200 could play the Millenium Falcon with the shape it has.
I own: 83+ ; 84+SE ; 76.fr ; CX CAS ; Prizm ; 84+CSE
Sorry if I answer with something that seems unrelated, English is not my primary language and I might not have understood well. Sorry if I make English mistakes too.

I had the CSE because it is the latest evil TI has thrown at us.
I may do the V200, but then I'll have that be a Star Destroyer and the Falcon a 92. And what about potential sequels? :P

I don't see what's evil. It's not powerful, true, but the reason why they did that is to keep some compatibility. Not with programs, but with programmers at least. So I'd say that even if it's not a "good thing", it is not a "bad thing" as in "it was meant to be bad".

The point of this project is to be funny and if I turn out to be wrong in the long run, then I still will look back on this project fondly.

you could use a non-ti calc like the HP Prime for something, though the pictures part might be a bit hard
