i just recently got mine out again... like the day before yesterday.... It's as if you guys knew everything about me.... AAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!! Quit stalking me!!!!!!!!

And on a lighter note: I got them out with intentions to sell them really cheap on ebay, then I looked up the prices and I have about $700 worth of legos, when I bought them I probably spent only $300 (over a period of years, I'm only 15 and haven't had them out in about 3 years).... I WILL be rich!!! MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!

Well, I have a ton of Lego's and even made a few models for my school projects. However, my most prized Lego piece is the RCX 1.5 from the Lego Mindstorms Robotics Invention System 1.5 I bought for $86 on eBay. Of course, I had to replace one of the motors, but it was still a great deal. Right now it's inside a wired remote for an all-Lego helicopter I made w/o any instructions. My only three problems with that Lego Chopper are:
  1. The back propeller might be a little hard to control, as the gear ratio is pretty low and the propellers are kind of small.
  2. The main propeller's gears might melt because of the friction from the 16:625 gear ratio I implemented (For every 16 turns the 9v motor does, the top propeller turns 625 times).
  3. The stupid frikken' software won't install on my XP laptop (it was made for 98 and ran on 2000, but it wouldn't run on XP even in compatibility mode) and I can't get the newer software anywhere for free.
Maybe when I return from Budapest in August I might be able to take a few pictures of the chopper.

So...am I a geek or am I a geek? :Ptongue.gif

Hehe, that's not what I wanted to point out to say I'm a geek. It's that I actually built a chopper out of Lego pieces that might be able to fly. In fact, I researched helicopters and their methods of flying before I built it and the only two things that might stop the chopper from flying are weight and friction in the 16:625 gear ratio between the motor and the propeller. The friction might be a problem, but I made sure the chopper is perfectly balanced between lightness and stability by moving some of the heavier materials (such as the RCX) to an outside controller attached to the chopper via very long cables.
Though NXT is great in the sense that it has a sound sensor and a color sensor as well as built-in rotation sensors to the motors, the kit's price is more than three times as much as the RIS I bought on eBay and most of the wires aren't backwards-compatible to the RIS or to normal Lego parts (the RIS has wires who's ends can be clipped onto normal Lego pieces just like any other piece).

Oh, and to add to the geekiness factor, I'm thirteen.

Hells yeah! Legos own!

Why isn't there an "awesome! of course I still play them" 19+ option? I'm still only 18 but I anticipate continuing on with lego awesomeness until old age! Also, what's the deal with don't tell your gf? I have a gf and it's not like I have a problem with people knowing I play with legos... Hell, I'm proud of it!
