Post by: annoyingcalc on July 06, 2011, 07:34:16 pm
http://calcg.org/cgi-bin/files.cgi?id=1471 does this work or damage the LCD on ti-83PBE or ti-84PSE?

Michael Vincent is a reputable author, but I don't know much about this particular file. I would think it fine though.

Just look at his ticalc.org author profile. He's produce plenty of quality items over the years. =)

I think part of it may be that it's pong, and part of it may be that it the “color” doesn't work well on all calculators (at least, it seems like I may have read something to that effect) or maybe that it's not quite as impressive as some people expected.

(That is strange that it doesn't seem to be on ticalc.org; I thought I had seen it there, but maybe not.)

I just searched "two color pong" (no results when hyphen was included) on ticalc and it came up with this random "pong kombat".

I tried the game you were talking about in wabbit...idk whether it's trustworthy or not :/

EDIT: odd, what shows in the screenie is completely different from what it was showing...it was just a solid black screen when I was testing it.

Maybe it's screwing with the contrast? GIFs from Wabbitemu seem to ignore the contrast level.

To my knowledge it's trying to mess with the LCD power supply. It doesn't work on my calculator. (Probably a different driver)

That's one of Michael's older programs. He called it a "mistake" on IRC once. It abuses the LCD in ways you can't expect to work anymore, and shouldn't have expected to work in the first place.

Does it just make it blue on the 84+ calcs?
