Title: Dreams
Post by: JustCause on June 04, 2011, 04:45:35 am
Post 'em!

For me, binaural theta beats = most epic dreams ever. That is to say, as of two weeks ago I'm learning dream control. I had my first fully lucid dream two nights ago: I flew around for a while, met and talked with all my characters from the Randomness project (<3 Sara), shot lightning from my hands for a while, then blew up the planet. (This last was too much and I woke up.) It was awesome. I'll post tips if you guys want them.

So, post your dreams!

Buwahahahaha!
IM IN UR DREAMS, MESSING WITH UR Zs
Spoiler For the first dream I remember:
A long, dark, stone walled tunnel. The only light comes from two GameBoy Colors with backlit screens. On the screens are the smilies you see on Lego Minifigs, and outside the black line and the black dots is a gentle static. One GBC is blueish-teal, the other greenish-teal, and I talk to both of them as I walk down the hall.
Suddenly, I'm in a wide open area of ruins, with a bent wrought iron gate creaking on its hinges as it hangs off the tilted brick fence. An enormous roasted turkey with a stick of dynamite in it, all on a suitably sized plate, sits beyond the gate.
I awake, and run down to my parent's room, scared beyond anything I had yet experienced.

Today, I dreamed that Scout made a post on the Swedish Pokémon forum... In Swedish. O.O
He didn't use Google Translate from what I could see. His grammar wasn't perfect, but I still had no idea how he managed to know so much Swedish. :P

For reference, I think he knows about five words IRL.

(true) Today I dreamed that my Total Post Ratings reached +41 and was growing permanently.
Only in my dreams  :'(.
EDIT: after connecting here, I noticed that I really got a +1 during that night !
EDIT: I also noticed after that the +1 is at this post so it wasn't that night...

Here's a dream I had several years that eventually became a game that I'm currently developing:

<open narrative>

You wake up in a dry, dusty desert. Tumbleweeds grow in scattered patches across the desert as far as you can see. You're surrounded by four thick, strong gates ringed with razor wire, the gate to the southeast slowly swinging in the small buffets of wind. Overhead, several black vultures circle, occasionally diving to ravage one of the numerous dead animals lying near the gates. You start across the desert beyond the gate, wanting to the reach the deep desert before the desert claims you for itself. It's rumored that surviving exiles live there in an area called Black Canyon. All you know for certain is that you can't return to the nation that exiled you on pain of death.

The sun glares down ever harder as you stumble across the desert, the day lengthening. Occasional howls from the distant mountains to the northwest drift across the endless sands. Coupled with the intense dehydration, they provoke wild hallucinations of the horrible creatures The Project is rumored to have summoned in those godforsaken hills.

...

You've been traveling for what seems like years. The sounds of the desert have driven you to near insanity.  However, it occurs to you that the landscape has subtly changed from the endless plains where you were exiled. Small shrubs have have replaced the prickly tumbleweeds and sandy plateaus gradually descend towards a narrow chasm splitting the landscape. As you approach the dark chasm, the wind howls around you, shrieking and deafening. You note the dark stone composing its sheer walls, which descend into a misty abyss whose depths cannot be seen. This is Black Canyon.

DEAR CHRIST, MAN.
I need them tips on lucid dreaming.

Teach me the ways! o_o

I did a bit of experimenting with binaural beats when I was young. I never felt them work for me though...
Title: Re: Dreams

Here's how I learned:
1. Reality checks. Whenever something unexpected or frustrating happens, count your fingers, lean on a wall, etc to check you're awake. You'll eventually start doing these in dreams. If they fail, you become lucid.
2. Semiconciousness. Set your alarm late in the night, then go back to sleep. Keep repeating to yourself "I will be aware I'm dreaming." If you can, keep the desired topic of the dream in your thoughts. This is the easiest way to practice.
3. Theta binaural beats.

Lol yay now we have one here as well

Im like a lucid dreaming encyclopedia I have been following it for almost a year now and its one of the most amazing things ever!!!

im to lazy to type my last good dream out it was like 20 minutes long and had alot of detail so ill give you some bullets ;)

Code: (Dreams) [Select]
;
 -Time traveling Scooter
-traveling in time to fix my mistakes
-being chased threw time by my dream characters
 -mind controlling aliens

was alot of fun!!
if i can find the old dream topic ill copy one of my mario dreams over that one was epic

Ok for you Raylin first question needs to be asked how good is your dream recall on average?

as for binareal beats I can make them on request and i find a sweep to a high delta then a sharp rise to a mid theta works the best at re awareing you in a dream just have to get the timing right :P

besides forcing me to wake up in the middle of sleeping using some hair-brained method (hopefully not involving blue lobsters), what did you do?
Title: Re: Dreams
Post by: Geekboy1011 on June 13, 2011, 11:29:20 pm
well not waking up in the middle of a night is easy and all it helps but meh it just screw up your sleep schedule.

so this is what i did </start infomercial>

i started something called a dream journal
i started using auto suggestion prod my memory along
i set my alarm to wake me up in a rem cycle around my target wake up time

those are in order of importance to me not so much effectiveness

a dream journal is basically a log you keep every morning of your dreams and the absence of dreams ect. this makes your subconscious feel they are important and has it stick in your memory a bit longer. it also shows progress which is a huge uplifter

autosuggestion: works wonders on me its basically telling your self and believing that you will do X with out a doubt. this just confirms it and again makes it more important to you

setting the alarm: waking up in a rem cycle wakes you up in a dream making you remember it as you were just experancing said dream.

i would start off keeping a dj that alone make the differences if i don't keep one i have crap on dream recall if i do keep one its back to one a night if not more than 1 dream a night

questions comments ect

and do what works best for you these are guidelines not every thing works for every one :P
Title: Re: Dreams
Post by: jnesselr on June 13, 2011, 11:31:23 pm
you start off by keeping a dj? acronyms my not be best here.  Interesting idea, but I don't think I would do it.  Not worth the effort, I guess.
Title: Re: Dreams
Post by: Geekboy1011 on June 13, 2011, 11:32:30 pm
dj = dream journal
sorry bad habit from the other forum im on

and it is a lot of work but when you get lucid dreams from it it instantly (imo) becomes worth the effort
(lucid dreams being controlled dreams)

I've had several lucid dreams throughout my life, but I have never consciously went to sleep with the intention of having them. I almost always take control partway through the dream not usually from the begining. Many times I consciously come to the realization that it's a dream and I'll freeze time and say aloud in the dream world "wait, this is just a dream" and then proceed to do whatever the hell I want from there. Content has varied from just taking off and flying around like a super hero, defying gravity/physics etc. to umm.. well just about anything haha. It's pretty cool stuff to say the least.

I've only had a few lucid dreams. The last one I've had involved me dieing and roaming the afterlife, which strangely enough, was only a collection of ~20 buildings in neat, orderly rows. :P

I want to learn how to lucid dream in order to make Astral Projection easier.
Title: Re: Dreams

Geekboy: Not only is that a perfectly legal English sentence, but I did that intentionally (leaving out the preposition) because I thought it'd be funny and fitting w/ the surreality of dreams.

oh it made me laugh frey i was just confused as we were talking about food and not the dreams as a whole :P

nice homer and oddly sounds fitting :P

now i have a question for you though homer do you believe there is a difference between a OBE/Astral projection and lucid dreaming or are they one and the same. i've heard many different stories and participated in many arguments over this concept xD

and ill gladly help point you in the right track if you want just answer this question first :P

"How good is your dream recall?"

I remember the Lucid Dreams post on Cemetech, and you talked a lot about this stuff. I've since stopped trying, but I really should take it up again by doing more reality checks.

The only dream that I remember vividly is one where I was in the class on the Magic School Bus. We were going on an end-of-the-year field trip to "learn the secret of the Magic School Bus." After we went through a bunch of weird locations, like a futuristic city and floating hallways, and a rainy field, we finally came to a tall hill. Mrs. Frizzle started digging into the hill with her bare hands, and eventually revealed a bright and sunny landscape inside the hill (no idea). And as she crawled into the hole she made with her hands, she said "Say goodbye to the modern world, and enter a world of history."

And then my dad woke me up.

I think there is definitely a difference between LD and AP. LD, I think, is more or less your conscious mind telling your subconscious mind what it wants and your subconscious builds the dream world. In AP I think it deals much closer to the subconscious to the point that part, if not all, of it becomes accessible. Furthermore I believe that during AP you are dealing with higher dimensions. (After all, we all exist on every dimension we are just aware of only the first four due to five and above being tightly curled) I believe that in AP the fifth and perhaps sixth become uncurled for you perception of them. Beyond that I have talked to friends who have gone through AP and in AP, you can cause mental damage if you are not careful ie, depression. LD does not carry that risk in my experience.

I believe that the reason LD is so similar to AP is because, when you dream your mind is close to that state where you can project. In LD, since you can control it without breaking that trance, it becomes easier to make that step up to AP as you are already in that state.

"How good is your dream recall?"

My dream recall is so-so. I an remember some dreams. Those that I don't I usually can remember the overall theme of the dream or at least specific parts.

Interesting conjecture homer..have not thought of it that way... albeit i have yet to experience astral projection so i'm biased for now :P

as for the dream recall i guess a better question would be out of how many nights a week do you remember dreams... regardless though I am going to tell you to start a dream journal.

Which is basically a log of all your dreams that you remember. weather you dreamed them at night or in the afternoon you write them down soon as you get the chance...which should be soon as you remember them.

nothing to fancy for this a spiral notebook is what i use. a text document on the computer. what ever works best for you.

what this will do is rain your recall even more. as you dream any where from 3-8 times a night depending on how much you sleep. it will also increase there clarity and eventually show you reoccurring themes in your dreams which will help to condition your thoughts to make you lucid  ( if at any point this makes no sense let me know ill clarify better)

@comp yeah I need to bump that topic eventually xD and very interesting dream...magic school bus was amazing when i used to watch it in elementary school xD

Has anyone here had a recursive dream, where you dreamt you were dreaming, and woke up twice?
Also, on the subject of reality checks, I've heard digital clocks have bizzare dream behavior.

Yeah, but unfortunately, I woke up from a nightmare into a nightmare. In fact, I was nightmaring and woke up into "the nightmare is reality" if you want, so when I woke up for real, I was quite happy.
Did you ever dream that you died ? It happened to me when I was 10 years old (A cowboy put me a knife in the arm and I died ???). It is funny, you try to get up but nothing ;D

I've died, but not as "me", as some character named Cody. The even weirder part was that there was narration after that. I'll share later.

These are called False Awakenings .... they suck ... had a daisy chain of ~3 one morning....waking up writing dreams down...to wake up again to do it again sucks so much xD.

as for clocks they are stable for me now. as i want them to be ,when i first started they were not stable though and work really well as a reality check if you are always on the computer and such in your dreams. as you have a nice clock right there for you :P

i have died in a dream before. but for me i can feel pain in my dreams so normally it hurts so much i wake up. or i just black out and wake up happened twice once in each scenario so yeah ^_^ need to work on getting to the void when that happens xD

only because you are not used to it. after you have been in it a few times and get to relize it can not hurt you it becomes a great launch pad for OBE's and LD's depending on your fancy ^_^

Or actually sleeping well/through the rem cycle. this happens to me when i do not wake up on a rem cycle. and almost always upon remembering a dream.

Feeling like you were aware in it and such is tricky to me. as of how i remember them is like you i experienced it after i dreamt it...disconnectedness

Ok so JustCause asked my to Make a Binaural beat for him. So I did and I figure it might work for some others here

These Beats are designed to bring about a sense of focus and attention.

This one has a rain/forest/thunderstorm track in the background
Download (http://geekboy.57o9.org/BBeats/Alert-Focus.Rainy.mp3)
45MB

This one is the same one with the volumes slightly adjusted and NO rain sounds in the background
Download (http://geekboy.57o9.org/BBeats/Alert-Focus.mp3)
26.5MB

These two being binaural beats means that you need stereo headphones for them to work as they use some interesting properties on how the brain processes sounds to work. so stereo headphones only or you will just get a headache ;)

This one here is completely different I have issues falling asleep at night some nights or at all on my back so what this does is it slowly brings your mind down into a delta or sleep state of mind which makes it really easy to just pass out and sleep even when your uncomfortable.

Also this one is a Isochronic Pulse which means you do not need stereo headphones it will work with 1 ear bud or speakers

Download (http://geekboy.57o9.org/BBeats/sleep.mp3)

Is it normal to be able to hear it a lot louder in one ear than the other? No matter what side of the earbud is in my left ear, it is louder in there than my right ear.

Wow, reading this topic might make me take dreams much more seriously.

So my last dream was last night. I usually remember my dreams a lot and I can control the surface of most of them. However, I can never start a dream by my own, like "I wanna dream with going to a concert".

Ok so the dream I had this night was long, but I only remember from middle to another part:

I was in the middle of a zebra cross and for some reason I had my phone (Android) on the left pants pocket and an iPhone (wtf?) in my right pocket.
Then I went to meet my IRL friends and a girl that is my friend was telling my other friends of how amazing Twitter was. We were on the bus later and I started following her from my Android phone and she pressed Follow on my account using my iPhone.

Now, WTF? The only explanation I find is that my IRL friends to use Twitter.

The night before I had a dream too, I was a sniper in Team Fortress and my IRL friends and people I know from town were the other players, I remember shooting against my friends, it was so weird :S

Either way, I started the dream with a rock launcher but I changed to a sniper because I like snipers much more. As I said before, I can control the not-so-deep parts of my dreams.

On the topic of Binaural Beats, my mother is an occupational therapist, and she is one of the only people in the are trained to give a special kind of therapy based around binaural beats. I technically have tons of tracks like that that I *could* give people, I just don't know if I'd be allowed to. Each track has different effects in general, and also different effects on different people. Some tracks don't work at all for some people. Others work really well.

i've been keeping a dream journal for a long time, and actually started doing so without any prompting from anybody else. being able to remember everything after the fact is so fun.

a weird thing i've noticed is, actually, the way memories are handled while dreaming. in my dream i may be some place in the middle of eastern europe (like i was last night) and remember that i recently bought a large number of books (which i actually did) and thus not purchase much at a book store. other characters will often bring up things i've done recently as well (like my mother getting angry at me for spending so much time on the computer and not talking to her friends when they come over.).

i've had some interesting lucid dreams as well, doing things like melting the landscape around me, and whenever i fly it's always the same way (a sort of swimming motion through the air. it feels SO awesome).

thanks for the sounds. i'll test those out tonight, geek!

I remember this dream I had recently, and once I woke up I realized I don't have touch in my dreams.

I was in a plaza, like there are in Italy, with a fountain in the middle. I fell in the fountain, and my phone started electrocuting me. I tried screaming help, but I couldn't the word out, and as my body seized up, I fell under the surface of the water and drowned.

The sky was dark gray with smog. There was a pile of trash the size of a mountain. Everything was tinted dark gray. As I was watching, an army of little green goblin men started swarming over the mountain, coming to get me. So, like any logical person, I grabbed my cat and hid in the small space under the trapdoor.

That was one of my weirder dreams.

Interesting dream I had:

I was on an aircraft carrier, though it was like 1000 feet tall, and really bumpy of a ride.  It was also really skinny, like 20-30 feet across.  The control tower was like a small shack that sold coffee only.  There was no lower deck, planes, railings on the side, or anything.  Except a table in the middle, made of a matress, for some reason.

I was playing cards with 5 other guys, and a really hot girl our age.  We were playing capitalism to see who got to sleep with her on the table/mattress.  Each time someone got "scum" (mraning last place, or loser) they were pushed off the edge of the ship, after they were forced to drink a gallon of coffee in <2 minutes.  The showdown was me and this tall blonde kid who seemed like a prick; yet prick or not, he beat me.  So I cheated, pulled out a sword, and cut his little toes off.

He pulled out a light saber, so I decided to upgrade to a ballistic knife and we fought it out; lo and behold, I won and had a very very nice dream from then on.

Not always actually the term lucid dreaming has nothing to do with dream control. it just has to do with being aware that you are dreaming.

And why don't you remember your dreams often, bad sleep schedule or something?

I was in this town with some of my friends. We were all outside of school during a break and suddenly we all ran away from the school monitor. The person chased us back, and for some reason she wasn’t really angry. Suddenly the town got a lot darker and spookier like it was turning to night. I noticed where I got captured back (still outside of school) was next to a Mobil gas station. I jumped up and grabbed the ledge of the gas station and heaved myself up easily like I was in a nanosuit (Crysis, anyone?) I noticed all the gas stations in the town were arranged in an ‘L’ shape, so I saved the game (really weird I know) and then I jumped from one station to the next. Somewhere in the middle I heard my English teacher say to one of her students, “You know what that is? It’s called Russia jumping.” At the end I did a super jump and jumped around 50 feet horizontally and fell 20 feet down, but I was fine. I landed right next to a friend of mine and we talked about how awesome my hops were. I then had the feeling someone was going to light the gas stations on fire to kill me because they didn’t like the jumping I did, so I ran across a street and met another friend of mine, who said something like: “You know what else is interesting? Page 529 in your textbook…”

And then I woke up.

not true at all you need to work on solidifying your in a dream then letting the fact "go" as in your dreamiung enjoy your self do what ever and dont let anything confuse you :P its hard i agree but its doable!

sorry i have to laugh at that lol

Every other way has a good possibility of messing up your sleep schedule and still relies on a journal

the only thing i can think of is taking about 150-300mg i think it is (i need to recheck dont go on this value) of B-10 before sleep it supposedly really helps with memory retention. But i am avidly against supplements and stuff so i dont recommend you do it im only stating it for general knowledge ^_^

Do any of you guys have jumping occur frequently in dreams (as in most dreams involve jumping)

i second the other guy but ill cover a few definitions of jumping

IF you mean jumping as in jumping on buildings vehicles and parkour type actions alot of people do when they go lucid because it is something thay they can no to in waking life. as well as people do so because because its something they want to do in waking life so there subconscious pulls it into there dreams to help explore the concept.

If you mean jumping as in reality jumping from one scene to the next alot of people experiance this due to the lack of structure in a dream. its the minds effort to keep the dream going and keep you confused and beligerant. by changing the scenery alot you get confused and lost in the aspects of the new place and thus dont realise your dreaming while the mind works on what it needs to.

so yeah other than those what do you mean by jumping OR if you mean one of those say so ill give a better definition those were just quickly thought out ^-^

correct but not always. the scene changes do normally occur during the rem changes. but they can also happen mid dream as yo uleave rooms and such. happens to me all the time. it really just boils down to luck/what you are doing :P

I agree.  I sometime will have one dream that stems off from a certain "focal point" in on dream and "jumps" me into a different scene.  For example I may be watching a movie on tv... then suddenly I am in the movie.... I once dreamed I was watching an angel battle on Evangelion; then... I was in the middle of the battle.  Some freaky sh*t lol

this happens alot to alot of people sadly

the mind is less restricted logically in dreams when it comes to creation so we have amazing skill making things up on the fly.
the issue is though our brains are designed to literally chemically erase these dreams from our memory so that we dont confuse them with waking life. its kinda saddening but the results of dream memories taking place of real ones is even scaryier imo :/

as for the juju thing, the mind has a tendancy to work on your waking life fears in dreams where you cant be hurt by it. it kinda treats it like a mental sandbox where it can test out scenarios and work on reactions to it and such. its kinda one of the niftier uses the subconscious has for dreaming

A log in my Dream Journal:

??/??/96-97

My first dream.

This one happened just before my first memory. I had the fortune of my earliest memory occuring as I woke up. This

was the dream I had before waking up. I like to call it, The Pre-Life Dream.

I was three when I had this dream. Much of it is no longer accessible in memory. However, I can recall certain

"scenes" as well as the overall context of the dream. The dream was, essentially, the history of the Earth and

Humanity.

I don't know where the dream started, or rather, when it started. I think it began somewhere in the Dark Ages or Antiquity. Time flowed fast. I mean, REALLY fast. Imagine, centuries flying by in seconds. With only a small periods of time flowing normally. I remember seeing wars, ships, scenes I recognise now as Spanish Galleons landing at the Americas. Firearms, rocketry, possibly the lunar landing. Time kept flying forward until it stopped. Present day. Then I woke up, with no memory of the day before. To me, consciousness started at that point in time.

This is an important dream for me. Due to the fortunate circumstance of my first memory, it gives me a little insight into our state before we gain consciousness. Before we exist. I often wondered, at what point do we exist? Is there a time before the beginning of consciousness? I've concluded that we do experience time in this state, but we are not aware of it. (For me it also raises the question of when exactly does a person have a soul? But that's far beyond the scope of this thread) :)

A dream I had:

I started in a room with a bottomless pit. I'm holding a laser tag gun, but I don't have the actual bodypeice on.  A horn blares and I run down a hallway filled with mines, dodging them the best I can. I pull in to another room and peek around a door. I snipe my friend, who was running down another hall avoiding holes in the floor. He realizes he's been shot and... dissapears??? 0.o Anyway, I zip across the hall into another room and shoot my dad who ran into the room right after me. Then I turn around and get shot by another one of my freinds. Then I'm suddenly on a balcony over lava with all the other players. then I wake up.

My nightmares often are awesome :3
And kinda scary.

And I often dream about situations that happen exactly like that somewhere in the future :3

I've only had them very rarely. Even then, I keep forgetting to make use of them for things like astral projection.

Ah well. :P

I have had a few weird ones that I remember, really cool:

1. Being chased by two muscular men w/ tattoos holding grand pianos over their heads through a subway system.

2. A bike race in china, but stopping halfway to walk to a hill, sliding to a canal, jumping stones, visiting an opera house, climbing a rope to hear two guys talking about the orchestra, and finding a crystal hidden in the ceiling...

3. Dreaming of faeries (WTF?) that are in a field playing with giant marbles then being chased by the huge evil black bear in an open field...

I had a few others that I can't seem to recall...

Back in the days, I often dreamed that I was testing/debugging The Reign of Legends 4 and Illusiat 13 (along with other games), almost completely finished. Darn I was disappointed when I woke up... <_<

Same here DJ, I dream about new calculators, new game consoles, and other random things like toy rubber frogs going down the sewer. >_>

But did you dream that you were an hour away from finishing a 6 months old calc project, only to wake up to realize that it was just a dream and that your project was nowhere close to completion, if even started at all? :P

I recently dreamed a dream i found somehow awesome.
So, I was hiking in the woods, there was a wolf near me, I was interested about the wolf but at the same time afraid, so I kept looking for it, I didn't want to get too far away from it, but at the same time I always paniked when it came to near. All this resulted in me playing some kind of game with the wolf, in the end I tripped over it, i got scared as hell and started to run. The running triggerd the wolf to attack me, it bit me in the leg (somehow the wound was in my dream very small). So yeah, I went to a doctor and had a rabies positive test.

Don't ask me why htat dream was so awesome to me, it just was, I was disappointed that I had to wake up.

Me too, though the problem is that it often happens in nightmares.
Also I've experienced lucid inception dreams. It was confusing, waking up from a lucid dream and being in another lucid dream O.o

Apparently I dream a lot about the animation I'm planning to make. Then I wake up and realize I don't have such skills nor made that progress. Funny thing is in my dreams my imagination goes wild but when actually trying to work on the story I can't remember a thing or think of something good :P

Weird story time:

(This doesn't happen much anymore, but it used to A LOT)

I used to have premonition dreams. True story.

It started in 3rd/4th grade.

Two words I said every day: Deja-Vu! The night before I would dream I learned the class material for the next day (though I didn't know they were dreams... They were vivid, as if they were real, and I thought they were), and when we had class the next day, I always was confused. "Didn't we learn this yesterday?" I would say. The students and teacher insisted that whatever I said that about was completely new material. I didn't figure out they were dreams until 7th grade, when the dreams came more sporadically. They still happen occasionally, but I always wonder why they happen. I'm a scientific type person, and don't believe in any religion or in the supernatural, normally, but I don't have any other explanation other than the supernatural for this one.

This is actually a true story. Please don't tell me that I wrote a good work of fiction here, because it is actually real. Thanks in advance.

Pimath: it happens much more, I also have them but they're more about stuff thats further away in future. It sometimes saves me from stupid mistakes that I do make in my dreams.

In fact you almost dream every night but just don't rember it when waking up. Avarage is about 3 or 4 dreams per night.

There is a difference between the true scientific definition of dreaming and how people use it everyday.  If a person says they don't dream, they tend to mean that they don't remember them. :P

Necropost but since it is on topic, I guess it is ok ?

I made some scary dream one day this week (can't remember which day exactly).
Basically, I was at home, in my sister's room for some reason, doing something, I don't know what, and no one else was at home (supposedly). Then, there's a blackout. Can't see anything at all, everything is black. I manage to get in my room where I know I have a flashlight and manage to get it. I then go back in my sister's room, for some reason, and try to get back at what I was doing. Weird noises in the house, that go silence sometimes. My flashlight flickers before going black. Weird noises get closer. I notice it is a dream and force myself to wake up. I open my eyes. That's the worst part because nothing changed, I still can't see anything in my room. End of the dream but not of the nightmare :P

What was weird with that dream is that it was somehow coherent. I mean, there are often changes in dreams, like you get teleported to Las Vegas in 0 seconds and the plot changes, but here the plot never changed O.O

You usually aren't the most rational of persons when asleep so when something scary happens you are mostly like "OMG GTFO THIS IS SCARY" and when you realize oh its a dream the best way is waking up. Also forcing yourself to wake up is always... interesting. I did it a few times.

I don't see why it's not rational to be afraid when something scary happens :P
And I very often force myself to wake up when I am in a nightmare, as soon as I realize it's only a nightmare.

Protip: If anybody here is smoking cigarette then decide to use patches to help themselves quit, never wear the patches when sleeping. I never smoked cigarette but I heard that nicotine patches to stop smoking can result into some particularly insane nightmares that makes zero sense (assuming you even manage to fall asleep, since patches causes insomnia too when you forget to remove them)

I do not dream. It is an instantaneous process for me :P No dream, all black. If I do have a dream, I remember it
vividly (well, not)

All my dreams are from when I was 5...
