Five people brought pot to either sell, or to smoke in school, and got caught. The "Resource Officer" caught them all smoking in the bathroom...
But, here's the catch.. They didn't get expelled. I mean, it's not like their first time either. They've been caught at least 6 times. They only got 3 days OSS each...
???
-
People at my school just smoke (being Utah) but there hasn't been any other real drug busts, except marijuana one time, and they got expelled.
-
Really? I go to the same school as parser padwan, and I haven't seen this...but whatever. I take your word for it. Yeah, stuff like that sucks.
-
Never saw this at my school either. Only cigarettes or something.
-
Some fat old guy goes to my school?! JK
By the way what is mandosoft llc?
-
By the way what is mandosoft llc?
lol my "company". Basically it's what I tag onto my final products, just for fun. It's similar to GoTo Productions and Outside the Box Programming, if either of those sound similar. Sometimes I don't want to say "coded by Butts Fredkin" if I had lots of help from others so I say something like "coded by Mandosoft LLC" stating myself as lead programmer and other people as consultants.
-
Hmm, iirc the football team at my school has to do drug tests b/c some of them were using steroids. And I hear stories about people bringing water bottles full of vodka, sniffing painkiller in the back of class, etc about once a semester x.x
Not exactly a good atmosphere but it's the best high school in the district somehow so yeah XD
(btw, the topic title: "Hs this happened..." ;))
EDIT: fixed.
-
The best part about DualBLDR's school:
His middle school is full of drug users
My high school is clean. (reverse?)
-
Well, generation by generation it seems to get worse. A few months ago I saw some elementary schoolers cussing each other out from opposite sides of the street, using some pretty vulgar language..
(this is in the SF bay area, btw. not sure how it is in other parts of the country)
-
My high school has very few problems in this area (that I know of). Then again, I am not really the kind of person that someone would tell "Hey, we're smoking weed...". I'm one of the "good kids". But at least the teachers like me, and they're the ones giving the grades. However, we do get a surprising number of bomb threats.
-
My bro saw ppl selling drugs in the bathroom, and idk what happened to them. I think they got expelled.
-
For me Catholic school doesn't always mean good clean students. Drugs do happen quite often and because of that there are random drug tests year round for all students. So far I believe I've been tested about three times. It's only after you're caught the third time that you are guaranteed to be expelled but after the second time the school considers the possibility though. But I could never do drugs because I value my athleticism, health, intelligence and (man parts :/ eg steroids) very much
-
I never actually had my locker checked before. I remember at some schools they checked everyone's locker every once in a while, but not here. I think it was in schools where there were lots of drug problems.
-
At my school, if someone pretended they couldn't get into their locker, but it was really someone else's, they could easily ask a janitor to get in. That's how quiet it is :P
Not that drugs aren't in the area, they just don't come to school much.
-
on my campus, i saw everything from vodka to cocaine. it was mostly a core group of idiots in my class and the one below it (a couple of whom got caught and kicked out), but there were instances of 9th graders drinking and things like that, too.
it's actually kind of amusing to see people dressed like this:
selling drugs to one another :P
-
Numerous people have been caught with drugs at my old HS.
-
Because my school was in the Netherlands (it still is, but I left a long time ago) people were doing pot pretty much every day (not me though, I just don't like it). Technically the school didn't allow it, especially not trading, but that never stopped the potheads - they just made sure to be off the school grounds. In my 6 years there (the regular time) I've never heard of a single person getting caught for pot, but, there was once an incident with someone doing harddrugs at school; I believe she was expelled.
At the university people are doing pot all over the campus.
-
At our scool, there's a place where the older guys and teachers can smoke in breaks.
-
nope nothin, here...
i guess your even expelled if you smoke under16 :P
but pot is allowed here but never saw somethibg of pot
-
There's a spot at my school that during lunchtime is pretty much established as "the pothead spot". Don't know how much the teachers know of it. Also, I heard plenty of stories of people drinking vodka, but I don't know how much of that has happened on campus.
In my area, there are three main high schools to choose from... mine is the "pot school", one is the "alcohol school", and I think the last is the "gangster school". Yeah...
-
All the kids in my school swear every other word they say. We get a in-school during lunch period detention when we swear. (Three detentions = ALE btw). But kids swear so much teachers can't keep up. D:
-
we can swear if we want here. technically, we can't get in trouble for swearing unless you are using them ass a form of verbal abuse, and/or someone feels offended and reports you. But if you stub your toe, get a crappy test grade, or something else, we can cuss in the middle of class if we want. :P I go to a relatively small private school. I haven't heard any stories about people doing drugs there.
-
Apparently, between the 5 people, there was a "rat"....
Also, they are all on probation for 7 weeks..
-
My school has a zero-tolerance policy with drugs. If you get caught once with even pretending to have them (i.e. a bag of sugar in your pocket), you get 10 days OSS, a $150+ fine, and you're put up for possible expulsion. Still, out of 484 kids in my class (not school. Huge, I know), about 75 drink, smoke, or do some kind of drugs. I expect that number to go up because some parents took the school to court saying that random drug tests are "unconstitutional" and the judge ruled in their favor, so no more of those.
There's a Walmart literally right next to my school and I went to a football game last night and in its parking lot there were plenty of kids smoking and nobody doing anything about it. I found it somewhat amusing, to be honest.
-
Three of my fellow ninth graders were sharing a cigarette when i got to the bus stop last week. Disgusting.

Wait... SHARING cigarette?
*barf*

After hearing about everyone else's schools mine is much cleaner than I thought. It seems like some of this discussion is going off into school rules in general. My school recently added a rule that bans the use of programming software on school computers :( but I bring my own laptop :D and have IT tech privileges ;D which is actually higher than all other faculty :hyper:
Other rules are freak dancing is prohibited at school dances but many people do it anyways including myself ^-^ For more unorthodox rules, girls are not allowed to get abortions and if they do so they will get expelled. I've never heard of anyone breaking this rule before because of how strict they are on this
-
Is that your school? Must be a uniform thing, I never see people that dressed down for anything but home sports games.
-
Those uniforms are pretty similar to the ones at my school. Here is a picture of a couple of students in mass uniform which we only have to wear a few times a year with the good ole bishop.

No abortions??? That's sick. How can a school govern you medical endeavors??? What is wrong with your school? It sounds terrible.
P.S. And yes, they were sharing a cigarette.
-
Even the law of United States are not against abortions... Why should schools?
-
Exactly! It should be a woman's right to chose whether or not she has a child, you (not you) sick bastards!
-
Also, a human's brain matures when they are 25..
Punishment is fine for wrong decisions, but having sex before getting married and carrying a child in High school or even college is pretty embarassing IMO
-
Wow...
My school is actually really clean comparatively... no massive drug busts, not much sex, almost decent IT (:P), and a generally civil atmosphere.
I feel really lucky right now.
-
Some of the kids in my school are posting themselves smoking pot and doing stupid shet on facebook...
All I can say about that is that they are going to have a hard time finding jobs...
-

Or getting into college, for that matter.

Also, the funny thing is, that the parents of those kids know that they are doing that stuff, and they don't do anything about it!
They should send them to MP or something to teach them a lesson.

Okay first off I'd like you not to badmouth my school in such a way because I love that place. And yes the school very much does have a right to control abortions. Being a Catholic school morality is a fundamental part of our education and we believe that human life begins at conception. And then because we are also private, the school has the right to remove students who they believe do not mesh with the school's philosophy. And believe or not but the majority of students agree with the abortion rule strongly especially the girls.
-
The whole school system is going down I guess.
Drugs, alchohols, cigarettes, sex....Now what's left? Bunch of suiciders?

Lol, the closest thing we have is vegetarians who dress like goths.
And the only thing I have against my school's IT right now is that they use M$ IIS 6.0, instead of linux (but it's the district's fault, not the school's)

As one of my school's IT techs I make sure we keep all of our software up to date. Most computers use Windows 7, Office 2010, and Firefox. We also got this blazingly fast wifi network upgrade over the summer that provides enough bandwidth for every student to use a laptop and smartphone simultaneously :D
-
At my middle school, there is a drug-sniffing dog, but I never heard of anyone being caught. Worst thing that happened there was some 7th graders lit a trash can on fire in the bathroom last year. Now that I'm in high school, on one hand, there's a good chance something will happen, on the other hand its one of the top 20 schools in the US so maybe not as from what I have heard everyone is generally not prone to stupidity :P.
-
D: My school's tech is terrible (although I made suggestions for the CAD lab which were taken, because the teacher who runs it happens to be awesome). We use MacOSX running Firefox 3 all over the school. The computers are terrible. The only plus to the Macs is that sometimes I am able to SSH into my machine at home. But most of the time terminal is locked...
-
Well, cygwin generally has complete rights, but I find that the port rules are inclusive rather than exclusive (so all ports except those otherwise declared as not to be are blocked) so no ssh or MC servers. However, I can do pretty much anything inside the school district that I want.
Edit: Like host a SC game, or probably even an MC server, and have the whole class play on it :P
-
My school's comps are terrible too. Access to the C:\ drive is disabled, you can't save downloads (and when you choose run, it saves to the temp folder which is of course in the C drive so it fails to run, BIOS is locked, can't boot from CD/USB, right click menu is disabled in Explorer, which is very inconvenient when you try to create a new file, logins are your student ID number rather than name, takes 5 minutes to boot computer, takes another three to log in, and on and on. I hope I can get a netbook by next year.

I think our school is all xp and if firefox is even on there it's firefox 2, alongside IE7 (except for the teachers ofc, most of them seem to have windows 7 and chrome/firefox/etc :P)
-
Does anyone know how to get a computer to boot from the NIC? I can at least do that from the boot menu.
-
I would bet that all your school computers are set to do it by default. It makes clean wipes every year infinitely easier to do, since you don't have to actually get to each computer. Just power-cycle a lab with PXE boot on, and it'll auto install XP/7 (my school skipped Vista, hallelujah!) without any promptings (a feature of Windows Server, I believe)
-
I want to run a boot server (that has a linux image) on one computer then connect an ethernet cable directly to the one I'm trying to boot.
-
Yeah today while playing around with teh school's new filter I see they use Windows Server for their webserver... I wonder... I don't even think they use Apache... I wonder what I can do with that >:D
-
sounds like fun, but I doubt the host computer will allow you to install software with sufficient priveleges to host the image. And the port's probably blocked for outgoing.
Other than that, it should work!
-
Hmmm I wonder if I can use my ipod as a boot server. I just need to find a way to use magic jellybean so I can get the school's WPA keys.
-
Sorry if I offended you z80 man, I was complaining about the same thing you were.
My school's tech is THE WORST. They give you computers to take home, but you can't:
Download anything (all of the sites are blocked)
Install anything if you do manage to dl it
Access email
Access any website that is not educational basically
Access 50%of even educational sites
You really can't do anything, not even legitimate schoolwork most times.
However, you can go on omni :D
-
Our school still uses Windows XP the crappy version.
Our school's budget cuts are low, so we have fundraisers like every 2 months....
-
After reading all these posts I would have to say I'm lucky, we've only had 1 drug bust and that was because some dumb seniors tried smoking weed, during lunch, in the bathroom behind the cafeteria... we all could smell it in a second...
The school doesn't have any strict rules on morality issues like z80's either, but we also don't get free computers like boot's...
As for the actual computer access, it's set up so that we each have our own H drive which can be used if you log on with your own student ID on any computer hooked up to that network. You can't download or install stuff either, but I'm really close to cracking the admin password (and by cracking I mean spying over her shoulder when she logs in ;D ).
Computer specs are surprisingly good... Windows 7 on everything, and some computers even have 6 GB of RAM! Usually around 4 GB though, and a 2.83 GHz processor. The GPU can even handle low quality gaming so we play SC... CS 1.6... Cod4... Downloaded under administrator supervision too! The new guy is pretty cool.
I did get past the "Websense" which blocks internet access to all website's which are deemed noneducational. Internet Explorer is all that's on the computers, and you need an admin password to change the LAN settings to configure proxy servers, so I just brought in a Flash Drive one day with Firefox Portable and moved all the data to my H Drive so I can access it whenever.
In sixth grade, the teachers were really dumb and we could just download whatever we wanted and go on what ever sites we wanted... We actually had a class paid account to a proxy site with the username and pass "fucko" "1234"... not really smart but it made it a hell of a lot easier to the less tech savvy and I wasn't paying for it!
-
Wow, my school must be rich. we have upgraded all the way to linux (aka downgraded :P) or windows 7 :)
-
You can keep the computers at my school if you pay 160 dollars. And they are worth more than 1000. Although, it is Sci Tech.
-
Yesterday someone pulled the fire alarm and two fire trucks came. (Rumor has it they actually threw a rock at it and it went off.) It's a pity they did it after school got out, though :P
-

Schools using linux and windows? I thought they used mac's as a rule of thumb. ???
-
No, almost always windows xp.

Lol
-
Would you have gotten out of school if they had pulled it during school?
-
Of course. I'm not taking a risk of death(or boredness during class). :P
-
I think that should happen every day in school... ;D
-
Would you have gotten out of school if they had pulled it during school?
Well, it would've meant we still all had to go outside, and would interrupt at least half an hour of classes. The day it happened, it was a shortened day, where school got out but we were free to eat lunch there. So I just took my lunch with me and ate it while walking to the football field.
-
I think that should happen every day in school... ;D
Or, at least... W8
7.5*60 = 450 minutes
Each one = 30 minutes
450/30 = 15
So, at least 10 times per day..
-
Or just have it once a day and the school burns to the ground each time. :)
-
Good math. Valuable math, too
-
Or just have it once a day and the school burns to the ground each time. :)
^^that
-
Pah. There were no limits to infinity in that equation :P
-
Er it hasn't happened in my school (both senior high school and junior high school)... At least, I haven't heard about those things.
-

Some people in my school are like really smart, but they use their brain powerz wrong...
They shove weed/pot in to the paper towel dispenser and they carve the wall and hide weed in their as well...
