Title: Hayleia's Crafting
Post by: Hayleia on August 29, 2013, 11:53:41 am
A while ago, on a topic I don't remember the name, I showed one of my creations, it was a X-Wing (and people complained about the wrong decorations lol). Art of Camelot asked me to make a topic about my creations but I somehow forgot about it, and I only remember now that I see Sorunome's topic (http://ourl.ca/19482/359175;topicseen#new), even though mine is not "only" papercraft.

Of course I don't show here all of my creations because it would take too much space, so I only show the ones I think are the best.
And of course, please excuse any English mistake I can make.

Let's start easy, with a tank.

Not really impressive, is it ? Everyone can do this. But this is why I like this one so much, because of its quotient "easy/beautiful".

Then the X-Wing you may have already seen.

As people already said, the decorations are wrong (especially the sticker in front of the cockpit), but at this time, I had red spellotape (sorry, I am reading Harry Potter right now) and I just liked to use it. As for the wrong logo, I just put the one I could remember being in Star Wars even though it is not at all the right one.

Still with Star Wars, an AT-TE Walker.

Its feet are damaged but it is still great in my opinion. You may have spotted the hole on top of it. This is because a humanoid and an astromech droid can be placed inside, like a clone and R2-D2 for example (yes, this thing is meant to be R2-D2).

Yet another Star Wars vehicle. The Millenium Falcon.
You surely understood that logic is not the best part of my creations, and this is why you can put the AT-TE inside the Falcon.
And that is not the only thing you can put inside, you can open the Falcon to have access to a room.

Don't ask me why the General Grievous was in there. And you may have spotted the clone in the pilot cockpit.

Now, without any form of transition, let's Goto Assassin's Creed. So here is... an Assassin -.-
(http://tiplanet.org/forum/download/file.php?id=989&t=1)
As you could have told by yourself, it is not finished. But it is still articulated in the hips and knees (and arms once they are there).

And nooooow... my masterpiece (for now, none of my finished projects outpass this one). Buzz LightYear !
I know what you're thinking: "not fat enough". And do you know what I'm thinking ? "I don't care !"
Articulated in the shoulders, elbows, wrists, fingers (yes, fingers), hips, knees and ankles (yes, ankles).
(that brass wire you can see on his foot is only there to have it pose while I take the photo, not there otherwise).

Well, that's it. Of course you are allowed to comment, and if you have creations too, you can share them on this topic or in one of yours.

Thanks.

Lol yeah, I didn't know how to call that sticky band and I remembered they call it "Spellotape" in Harry Potter books, so I just wrote Spellotape. Google Translate says "Scotch tape" but "Scotch" seems like the name of a brand to me.

Well, with normal speeking (in german at least) you use all the time brand names like for tissue.

Well I actually says "Scotch" in French (because it is shorter than "ruban adhésif"), but I didn't know it was the same in English. And yeah, some people says "Kleenex" instead of "tissue" here too.

Thanks. And yeah, Star Wars is a really good subject for creating objects, there are a lot of spaceships and vehicles and characters, ...

Agreed.
Hardest Star Wars papercraft I made are star wars miniatures papercraft humans and battle droids.
Don't even ask how i manage to fiddle around with such small stuff ^^

And another thing why star wars is good: due to the great variaty there are tons of difficulty levels :)

I don't ask, I always work with tiny stuff. Maybe you don't see it in my pictures because there is no reference for the size, but the models I built are really small, except the Assassin and Buzz LightYear. Here is another image with my CX CAS on it so you can see how small they are.

Well, for PaperCraft there might be difficulty levels, but since I don't have pre-made plans when I build my things, I don't have difficulty levels either.

Funny, you talking about Transformers when I have this:

A lot less beautiful than the other ones but much more complicated too. I never managed to make a good looking Transformer.

Ha, yeah, those are nice!
And they are smaller than i thought :P
In fact, they are small because in case I made the whole Star Wars universe (one can dream...), I would have liked it to fit in my room.

Oh, makes sence :P
<a bit off-topic>
Imagine a realistic-scaled lego death star :P

@Hayleia: As I said before, your stuff is fantastic! You really have a great sense for designing these sort of things. That transformer is great too! :D Have you taken any sort of art classes or considered going to an art school?

Nope, I've never taken any art class. This is why I had to ask my sister to draw Buzz's face (I can't even copy a drawing on the internet).
And I never considered going to an art school. First of all, my parents would never have let me lol. Also, I don't know if what I do fits in such a class. I mean that I mainly craft toys that I can't get (I never could find a Buzz Lightyear that was articulated enough for my liking in stores), not for their beauty nor because I like crafting them.

But thanks for the compliment, I really appreciate it ^^

Well, regardless, I am a fan of your work. :D It's a nice hobby if nothing else. :D

In fact it was not even a hobby at the beginning. It was just me unable to have what I want (sometimes I don't find it in stores, sometimes my parents say "no") so I do it myself. This is the exact same thing that led me to programming, my parents telling me they won't buy me a GameBoy and me (years later) programming it on the thing I have that looks most like a GameBoy.
But yeah, I agree that sometimes I built things I didn't really want, just for the sake of it, like the tank.

Yea, I think you mentioned this in the other topic. It seems that your lack of certain things served nicely as a catalyst for your creativity. :D
