I saw it today.
First, it's a third of the book, so there wasn't much build up or climax.
I read the book 7 years ago, but I'm near positive they changed the wolf a tree scene to allow for a climax.
Also, while it was very well made and well done, I'm use to The Lord of the Rings orcs and trolls that don't have too unique of faces or look oily and soft. Also, the trolls' voices were kind of weird.
And while I didn't like The Lord of the Rings leaving out key characters like Tom Bombadil or the brown wizard, and shortening speeches to one line, this movie was pretty long and had too much.

Anyway, I liked it a lot, but it was not the movie that I waited for for 7 years to see. I think it would be better if the kept it at the original 2 movie plan instead of making it 3 movies.

I was pleased with some if the little things, such as some of the stories and people they mention

It's a pity, though, because the hobbit is the best of the books

I have to see it!
But I also want to see the original trilogy first

I might go see it. Hoping it will be as good as the LOTR series but preferably not as long (as in action-wise) as the first LOTR movie. Also Epic7 the best really would be watching all 3 hobbit movies that will be made before LOTR, since the story occurs before, but I guess for now you could watch the Hobbit then LOTR since the 2 other movies won't come out anytime soon.

Yeah well we had to go to a show but it's 18+, so I'm babysitting my bro while my mom and my friend goes there. But the problem is that we don't have any copy of the key so we can go out at different places at the same time.

He's actually at a trip somewhere at someone else's house, so it would be hard. :P (especially during weekends where stores close at 5 PM)

Yeah in Quebec most stores except supermarkets and groceries stores go like this for the most part:

Smaller stores
Sun 12PM-5PM (Some opens at 10AM, but others remains closed or close earlier)
Mon-Wed 9:30AM-5:30PM (some 6PM)
Thu-Fri 9:30 AM-9PM
Sat 9AM-5PM
December 1-23 weekdays: 9:30AM-9PM

Larger stores like Walmart: 8AM-5PM on weekends, 8AM-9PM otherwise.
Supermarkets that only sell food: Everyday 8AM-10PM (some 7AM-11PM or even 6AM-12AM). Max 4 employees past 9PM (8PM on weekends)
Grocery stores: Most open 24/7
Car stores: Closed on weekends. Open 9AM-9PM on weekdays

This is mainly due to poor sales and also probably laws to allow store employees to have a life.

Yeah over here they only started opening on Sundays in 1992. As kid, if we wanted food we had to go to convenience/grocery stores and it was ridiculously expensive.

In the US, you can get food 24 hours a day at many places. Most only close for several hours, such as from 11-6 or 2-6 or something.
The only outlier is Chickfila, which closes on Sunday. It's fun to go to Whataburger for breakfast and have a burger at 8 am. I think Denny's might even be open on Christmas  D:

Hm... I've only seen a chickfila once, in Virginia.
I've never even heard of whataburger :P

Oh, I'm shouldn't have used that example. Whataburger is an awesome restaurant that is mostly in Texas and few other southern states
But I thought Chickfila was a large business

I haven't heard of Whataburger but Chickfila I have, just haven't been to one yet.

About the Hobbit, I was supposed to go see it tonight but I still can't legally drive alone and I don't have a ride to get there.

We also have grocery stores in California that are open 24 hours.  Walmart here is also open 24 hours (I hate going to walmart).  I think weekends stores close around 8 or 9 and week days its 10.  Don't really know when they open though because I'm at school in the morning.  Hmm what else, well I don't know of any stores that are closed on anydays.  McDonalds is even open on all holidays I think.

I just watched LOTR 1&2. Has anyone ever realized that the second one is actually 3 hours long?

did you realise that every single one is 3h long and in directors cut even longer?

I just watched the first one and I was aprox 2.5 hours.
But yes the point is a marathon of all the movies would take 12 hours. I'm not that patient XD

The hobbit is way too good to be condensed into one movie, and should be made into two, but I was very upset when I learned that they were making it into three I was very upset. I also learned that they were going to add a female elf that wasn’t in the book. (I remember seeing an article on Yahoo about some actress playing an elf, and I could not remember that elf, and was afraid that I had forgotten the hobbit, and then read that she wasn’t in the book)
Anyway, I saw these the other day and knew that I was just like this, and even watched the movie, despite telling my self that I wasn’t going to watch it.

I *think* the third one is going to be some (maybe all?) new material that helps bridge the gap between the end of the hobbit and the beginning of lord of the rings.
Title: Re: Hobbit, anyone?

The first one had the climax of fighting the wolves, the second one is called the Desolation of Smaug, so I think it will have a climax of killing Smaug. I assume the third one will be the giant battle between the elves, dwarves, men, goblins, and bear
They also bridged the gap a little already by having the movie begin right before the Fellowship of the Ring began, and by mentioning his treasure and the Sacksville Bagginses

I wonder if in the future, they'll do like Star Wars and rename LOTR series as The Hobbit 4, 5 and 6? That would suck x.x

Actually, the first Star Wars was originally called Episode IV (though they didn't show "Episode IV: A New Hope" in the movie's title sequence until the movie's rerelease before Episode V).

IIRC the first one was reffered to episode 1 (now episode 4), the next one as episode 2 and the last one as episode 3.

Do you have any source (website)?

Whoops, I mixed up the details a little, but Episode V and Episode VI were always called that and the Episode IV rerelease came after Episode V. Either way, they were never 1, 2, and 3.

oh, yeah, right, they were only reffered to as "The Star Wars", "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedis"
