Title: How cheap is your keyboard?

Hold down both Shift keys and type the following sentence:

the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.

I think it has to do with USB input or P2 input and ghosting/anti-ghosting, so yeah usually gaming keyboards can do it correct. I'm going to test it with mechanical (for gaming) keyboard when i get home later (it's around $130)

well, mine is from a laptop, which doesn't work with usb obviously.. but yeah

The problem is that the matrix of a keyboard can only handle a max of key presses.
It's they way they are built, and most keyboards have the same problem.

I tried on a Macbook Pro and a Macbook Air and they have no problem at all >.>

I got it for free when my dad trashed it. It's a pretty near multimedia keyboard and it just works perfectly. There is only one problem: It's wireless, so you have to change batteries from time to time. I think I'm gonna mod it so that you can plug in a power adapter XD

Not bad. This keyboard was made by Acer in 1995. It has a nice feature that whenever a triple keypress fails, the num lock/caps lock/scroll lock lights all come on. I've figured out that a triple keypress will fail if and only if it forms a right triangle in the following grid:

The grid is probably related to how the keys are wired electronically. So how the sentence comes out doesn't have much to do with the quality of the keyboard really, just the arbitrary arrangement they chose. If they didn't put the left and right shift keys in the same row, then there would be only two keys incompatible with them.

works perfectly on that keyboard and its not a high quality one by any means. Could it be that this only affects usb keyboards? if so does that mean laptops ones are usb?

Mine's not cheap. It's old. :P and I like it. (Enough to modify it from an AT socket to PS/2) Simultaneous keystroke problems don't actually matter for anything but gaming.
