Title: How many incomplete projects?
Post by: Hot_Dog on March 06, 2011, 05:23:45 pm
So what projects do you have that are incomplete but not dead?  Also, are you working on all of them at once, a little bit each time, or do you work on one, finish it, and then switch to another?

I have Correlation, my ASM lessons (fixing typos) and S.A.D.  I am working on one and finish it, and then switch to another

Elmgon - This is hibernating code wise, but I'm working on the storyline in my head.
Boost - I really should finish this one up...
Midnight - I should get back to working on this one again too...
Secret Project - Waiting for more info from my fellow partners on this.

My Homescreen Game Pack is being worked on now. :)

Black: I don't have the skill to start it yet.
Powder: This one's on hold mostly because I'm too scared to touch it. Every time I do, I end up seriously screwing up my calc.
BASIC Arbitrary precision operations: Active. I'm developing a graphical front-end for it and rearranging all of the routines so it's usable.
Legend: Waiting for the Correlation Beta to appear...
Antenora: I'm saving this one till I can complete another project.
Another project: Unannounced and very active.
Another Prizm project: Team project that also hasn't been announced. It'll come out eventually, I suppose.

Nostalgia - Working on map editor/dev kit before I can really make some serious progress.
Pokemon - Need to make map editor, current way of making maps is really annoying. On hold because I'm focusing on Nostalgia right now.
Blur - I really need to finish this...
Collision Course - A complete game as is, considering adding an easier difficulty.
FMA - Needs some bugfixes and such, low priority right now.
Nostalgia: Sky's Story - Not sure if the Cage Match is gonna be picked up again, so this is currently on indefinite hiatus. I plan on finishing it eventually, though.

I may end up combining Blur and Collision Course and releasing it as Blur.

nPlayer - Preparing for a preliminary release, needs better compression, though
Trapped 89 - I'm just too lazy to fix a graphics bug :(
Chip's Challenge - Still being worked on, still a long ways off...
Secret Project - Restarted about 3 times already, but I am really dedicated to eventually finishing it! :)

Tale of the Lost Map - This was dormant for over half a year at least, back to coding it.
Hnefatafl - I was having some trouble with the AI, when TLM gets finished I might look into it again.
Factory Series - It's almost done, just needed few tweaks with variable changes, etc. But too lazy atm to do so :P

Unamed MIDI like Axe music notater - Never got far with this, but I would love to continue it sometime
Secret game of secretness - Planned game for a contest, barely ran out of time, still haven't got around to cleaning it up
Axe shell thing - Just for fun, because there's like a million of those, I work on it every like 1000 years
Some sort of calculator regex engine (Prototype in basic, final in axe) - Coming along pretty good until I accidently RAM cleared the 3rd version.  It's so daunting to retype it...  I'll do it someday.
Simple HTML viewer - Some might remember this from the early days of Axe. Yeah, I was planning on making it 100,000% better, but that depends on the previous item =)
TFE - Being recoded in Java, going to be less lame with more utilities, was put on hold for 5TD, still haven't got around to starting it again.
I'm sure a lot more, but I start so many things and drop them, that I can really only say those have any chance of being continued =P

I have a whole bunch of small games I worked on, but didn't finish due to lack of interest in them after a while, but the ones I intend to finish are:

Gateways: Not much headway lol, but since I'm working on it a chapter at a time, I'm good.  ;)
Bomberman 2: On hold for this^
Checkers: AI.  :(
Sonic: playing with physics, probably not going to be released.  ;)

Cuberunner: Done :D
Space Dash: Done :D
XXEdit 1.0 : Done :D
XXEdit 2.0: Meh, low priority.
Ash:Phoenix: Technically my main project. Working a lot on the storyline and hoping for a release before the end of the school year.
SandLand: Something to distract me when I don't want to do A:P
Raycaster: Sorta fell in the dirt when Runer112 released his.
Elec. Field Sim: Lost motivation since we're already done with this unit in physics
Notepad: Kinda-ish-not-really done. Requires much more time on the computer to work on this, hence lower priority.

Unnamed Axe game involving gravity and physics: Works. I should add more than one object. And I also should upload what I did to date.
Unnamed Axe(?) utility involving sound: Didn't started it yet. I heard sound is kinda unreliable...
TiDE: On hold (sorry Sir D:). Never got to repair Windows and/or to install Visual Studio 2010 yet since Windows broke sometime ago...
wxWabbitemu: Woo just got write access to the code! Now I have to look at it.

I'm at least glad to see all these projects on the list, for the fact it means they're not dead. I hope they get completed eventually. :D

I have a TI-BASIC project that reads reads a string of text and then displays that text on the graph screen in the form of sprites. The sprites are stored in a picture variable. It reads from the string, then copies the corresponding sprite for each letter from the picture file to a list. It will probably display all the sprites at once instead of one at a time sequentially. I like to work on screen mock-ups on calc, so this was a cool utility I was working on to help speed up the process. This was basically the only thing I had a current back up of on my TI-83+ SE when it died. I haven't touched it in a while, but I'd like to complete it simply because I'm proud of it, it's useful, and it has kind of a cool factor. :)

Do you mean some sort of text sprite finder/routine?

Computer/calc

Daemons: On hold, will work it during the Summer and through College, calc port will come out on project paradise.

Calc

Ninja Gaiden: Again on hold. Imma going to wait until I actually know some Axe (or even some assembly) until I even begin working on this one. :P

Computer

RTS Game: Currently being worked on, atm my friend and I are arguing over whether or not it's row based (Age of War) or more like Starcraft.

Zombie Game: On hold until we finish RTS game. Just a 2d, mouse and keyboard game.

Tunnel Game; I'm porting my tunnel game to the computer and then to the Xbox 360 as an indie game as part of a pack, so stay tuned! :D

D:

@HOMER-16 just one thing about your RTS, especially if it's for calc: Try to not start too big/complex if you never worked on one before, because that seems like it would be a challenging project, especially keeping the speed fast enough while giving commands to 100 units. X.x
Title: Re: How many incomplete projects?
Post by: TIfanx1999 on March 09, 2011, 03:07:10 am
@DJ: No, it actually displays sprites. For Example: If I had the text: "Never gonna give you up" in the TI BASIC variable STR1, It would use a FOR( command and check each letter until it reaches the end of the string. I have a PIC variable with sprites of all the letters in the alphabet, so when it checks an individual letter in a string it looks at the coordinates that that specific letter is stored in the PIC variable and then scans the 6X6(or whatever size i used) sprite using Pxl-test and stores the value in a list. It repeats this process for every letter in the string, and then draws the complete image from the list. I hope that was a better explanation, It's kind of hard to explain what this does without visuals. X.X Once I get it to a more working state I'll have to post a screenie. :) Also... 1337th post! ;D

Yes, thanks! ;D I couldn't really think of what to call it, so I just tired to explain it. That's the closest description to what it is. :)

@DJ, not to worry, this is primarily a computer game written in C++. Also I have a nice way of iterating through a 2D array to find coordinate data and other data, making it able to handle a high number of units of any type. ;D

Also, I will announce more of those computer-based projects as we start to work on them.

hrrmm, let's see...
Blaster Master-my friend is working on some AWESOME level sprites at the moment(with a bit of help from me) and over this weekend i'll see what i can do to put them into motion.
Unit 533D-i haven't started recoding this one yet, as i'm waiting to finish up Blaster Master, but right now there is still a bit of plot development going on every now and then.
Fire Starter-i have sprites and the beginnings of an isometric engine for this and plan on finishing it at some point, but lately i've been too busy to maintain more than one project at a time, if that. i wonder what will happen come summer...
various secret, joint projects in different levels of activity and completion-see title :P

i think that's it, although i have a few minor utility type things for personal use that i update from time to time to suit my needs

See my stat :D

I'm starting a new one soon, though - it's going to be a scrolling puzzle platformer called The Slime.
