Title: Movember
Post by: Juju on November 01, 2012, 01:36:22 pm
It's November, it means it's time to grow a beard or mustache! It's the point of Movember, to grow beards or mustaches for prostate cancer.

So, um, growing beards is fun, will you grow one? /me already has one, hence my nickname of Leonidas Facebeard.

Also go join my team on the Movember site (http://ca.movember.com/team/794673). :P

EDIT: (http://th07.deviantart.net/fs70/150/f/2011/130/d/4/spike_mustache_by_10mariobrosmaster-d3g1e23.png) My avatar has a mustache.

I might grow my goatee out again. Most likely not though. I'm trying to be more professional these days.

I thought we just needed the pinch? ??? Anyway I don't think I have any further work to do now :P (or I could get rid of my beard/mustache then let them grow again for the rest of the month)

It's more common than most people think... there's this dude at my job that every month or so, he lets his hair and beard fully grow and then completely shaves it off for stuff like that.  people never know what he's going to come into work looking like, cause sometimes its only his hair he shaves of and sometimes its just the beard, lol.  A Week ago he came in with nothing on him cause he gave it all away

Two years ago I barely heard about it except the name. Last year I finally knew what it was and they started talking about it a lot in medias.

If I remember correctly, wasn't your name previously Leonidas Pringlesface? :P

I have not heard the name Movember before but I know people at my school call it No Shave November.  Before Thanksgiving I'll probably be forced to shave by my parents or something.  I don't think that they think having a moustache / goatee is a good thing for family gatherings.

I remember him declaring himself to be Leonidas Pringlesface a while ago, probably based off of that picture :P

I know for a fact that my math teacher is doing this- he told the class a few weeks ago...

I, personally, can't grow a beard, though :P

Actually, "No Shave November" has been around for quite a while. I basically live in the middle of a forest, normally, and there are quite a few people who hunt. One of the aspects of hunting this time of year is that you are expected to be outside in the cold for most of the day, so males typically grow out their beards to keep warm. It has made its way into other social groups over the years, though, and most people don't know the background anymore :D
