There are 3 main types of courts:
-Hard
-Clay
-Grass
The most common is hard because it requires little maintainence. Clay is much softer than hard so it has a lot smaller bounce and plays much slower. Grass is the most uncommon because it requires a lot of work to maintain. It is the softest of the three so the bounce is the smallest, but the ball skips a lot so it is the fastest of the 3 courts. We only have hard courts around here. I've never played on grass and I only play on clay when we go up to our cottage.
