Title: Pizza Chains
Post by: Hot_Dog on May 14, 2011, 12:58:42 am
I like pizza.  So like many people in America, I tried food from different pizza chains to see if there was any food I would order from the company a second time.  Here's my opinions (and thus you may hear me shoving down pizza-shops you enjoy), but please discuss in this topic as well!

Papa Murphy's:  My favorite pizza hands-down.  You have to bake it, but that's part of what keeps prices cheap(er) and reasonable.  You get what you pay for--a rich pizza that makes your mouth water.  And nothing beats a Papa-Murphy's Chicken Garlic Gormuet Pizza

Papa John's: Okay, so this pizza is quite delicious.  When they say quality, they mean it.  But over the years, the prices have become completely overcharged.  Gone was the day when there was a "buy one, get one free" coupon.  I enjoyed the pizza while it lasted, but now I just can't afford it.

Pizza Hut: I enjoy the personal pizzas, which you can't get anywhere else.  Sometimes I want a pizza but there's only one night I can eat it since there's no refrigerator, and the personal pizza does the trick.  However, the pizza itself is nothing out of the ordinary in my opinion, and I don't like stuffed crust pizza.

Little Ceasers: My second favorite pizza.  And what deals you get!  Good pizza for extremely reasonable prices.  You can't beat Hot-and-Ready for $5 with anything except Papa Murphy's.  I haven't had the chance to try their wings yet, but I want to...I'm a huge wing fan, and $.50 a wing is always a good deal for me.

Domino's: My favorite pizza crust, because it has its own buttery-flavor in it.  But although the prices are reasonable, the pizza is like pizza hut--nothing out of the ordinary in my opinion.

Godfather's: I only liked it for its all-you-can-eat pizza buffet.

My brother is obsessed with dominos. I personally do not like chain pizza very much usually and prefer to get deep dish from a good restaurant.

Indeed, nothing beats the pizza from the restaurant around the corner.

I hear the pizza in chicago is the best for deep dish. My dad is always disappointed because he compares the ones we get with his favorite in chicago. chicago aways wins.

I gotta agree with you on that one. They got great pizza, but lately they've been turning into the premium brand. I only get their pizza now for special occasions.

Problem with me is that I need more than a personal pizza to keep me going :P But anyways it's been awhile since I went to pizza hut because their farther away then dominoes, but I actually enjoyed their stuffed crust imo

Ever since they've had the recipe change I've loved Dominoes even more. They're only 2 minutes away from my house so it's very convenient. Now for all those people who say that Dominoes uses ketchup and cardboard, when is the last time you had their pizza? It's not that bad as people say.

There is this Chicago style pizza place near my home and I love it. The pizza is well over 2 inches tall when you have all of your toppings on there. When you take a bite the inside is like warm dough and is just delicious. Unfortunately my dad does not like deep dish and prefers thin crust :P

Round Table: Don't go here, the prices are outrageous. It is $14 for a small pizza that really isn't all that great. Even the personal pizza is $8 and is the size of a CD.  <_<

Ballpark Pizza: My all time favorite. It is a local pizza restaurant that is extremely popular among sports teams. From 5 year old soccer players to high school teams this place is the best. The staff is great and almost everyone knows the owner. The prices are great especially on Thursday for the Thursday special: Two large cheese pizzas for $22 plus $1.50 per topping. Which is perfect because I have my track meets on Thursday afternoons so afterwards my entire team heads down there.

I've heard of them, but they don't have any locations within 15 minutes of my house so I've never been there. I also forgot to mention New York style pizza. And I mean real authentic New York City pizza. It is really good. New York pizza if you didn't know is baked in a coal fire oven giving it a unique taste. Proper eating procedures call for you to fold the slice in half that way the cheese won't fall off.

I'm not sure if it counts as a "pizza chain," since there are multiple restaurants with the same name and the same owners (nice people, btw), but not all of them serve pizza. However, the best hands down restaurant chain serving pizza is La Grande Orange. Your wallet will definitely feel a bit lighter afterwards, but it's worth every penny you pay.

Another place in Arizona with excellent pizza is Pizzeria Bianco. It has what's often considered some of the best pizza in the country, although it isn't a chain in any sense of the word.

The lines at both of these places routinely stretch out the doors. Parking is even worse, since they're both in areas with limited [nearby] parking.

I liked Pizza Hut, but the one we had in my city closed like 12 years ago. The issue with Pizza Hut was that their stuff was way too expensive for the average citizen here. Besides that I like Normandin/Délice/Salvatore's pizza, but that's not available where you guys live. :P (Salvatore is like the cheapest pizza around, but it's not too bad for the price for some reasons)

nothing is better than small non-chain restaurants in down-south-inbred-land Pax-river Maryland.  Always look for one called something like 'Luigi's pizza' or 'Pizza by Luigi' (though as you might know from the office, never get anything from something with 'Pizza by' in the title...)

proof. (http://theoffice.wikia.com/wiki/Pizza_by_Alfredo)

My favorite pizza is from locally owned restaurants that have no more than two/three locations (the best two only have 1).

Honestly, I don't think I have ever eaten pizza from any of the large chains, save Pizza Hut (but even that has been at least two years).

We all know that specialized resturants with no chains have the best pizza.  But please keep discussion limited to pizza chains.

I think Little Ceasers is my favorite chain, but I've only had it once since my family moved away from one fours years or so ago.
Pizza Hut is probably my second favorite.

My School Pizza is a personal deep dish.  It's great.  Too bad we have it like once a month.  (Contrary to most schools, my school serves good food.  :D)

I am only a fan of there "different" pizzas.  When it comes to pepperoni and sausage and what others would consider classic types, there are others I prefer.  But yes, their Chicken Garlic Gourmet Pizza is amazing!

My school serves the greasiest pizza ever and it it just disgusting. You literally need a paper towel to soak off the grease before eating.

[offtopic] my school realized it could save money by making cheaper food this year. We used to have these amazing chocolate chip cookies baked fresh and were hot and gooey when you got them. 1 cookie was 50 cents and 3 were $1 (the best deal ever ;D) last year they raised the price for three cookies up to $1.25 and then this year they got cheaper cookies served cold in a plastic bag at 2 for $1 :P

I had deals like tha on delicious cookies last year but at my new school they still have good cookies but no good deal(they only 25/30 cents each though)

My school is typical in the fact it has crappy food they try to make sure is healthy. some of the fruit though Im not sure is edible

I like 'em
Papa John's: Okay, so this pizza is quite delicious.  When they say quality, they mean it.  But over the years, the prices have become completely overcharged.  Gone was the day when there was a "buy one, get one free" coupon.  I enjoyed the pizza while it lasted, but now I just can't afford it.
Still cheaper than pizza hut for delivery, and good too. <3 the garlic sauce.
<3 stuffed crust, are you insane? That was my dinner last night. :P

Eww. Greasy crap, imo. They are cheap and open late, though.
Domino's: My favorite pizza crust, because it has its own buttery-flavor in it.  But although the prices are reasonable, the pizza is like pizza hut--nothing out of the ordinary in my opinion.
Nothing special. For the price, I prefer Papa Johns.

Godfather's: I only liked it for its all-you-can-eat pizza buffet.
Cardboard with cheese on it
