I was reading the thread about the origins of this forum, and with the word "omnimaga" inevitably appearing in just about every post, I was starting to wonder how it's pronounced.
In my mind, I say it ohm-nee-mah-gah. Is that right? Or is there some other pronunciation of it?

Yep it's the right pronounciation. Actually it's pronounced the same way in English that it is in French.

Yeah, ohm-nee-may-gah was the other way I was thinking about it, but I realized it sounds too much like "omnimega". So that's why I figured the "ah" sound for the a made more sense.

The first time I visited this site, I thought the "n" in the banner at the top was a pi symbol, haha.

I usually pronounce it "Om-nee-mah-gah"

I wouldn't mind if I ever:
1) Have enough free time
2) Still have the .pfi files of the banner (from memories, the halo effect around text is orange instead of white so I would have to fix that too)
3) As long as Reuben, Zelda DLQ, Metroid and maybe ROL3, Grayscale Minesweeper and Bejewelled remains there, since they're kinda like Omnimaga classics. An alternative could be to switch to an animated banner that runs at 0.25 frames per second and alternate between classics and newer games, but from memories, using an animated banner on a website is considered terrible web design.
As for the logo, greek letters were used for the O, N and A letters and the imaginary i for the I, but they are not intended to be used as greek letters. Back in the days, it was not common to see those chars on a calculator and they were sometimes used as custom fonts for alphabet. SiCoDe did that too.

I was expecting this with Juju, didn't happen. With you I thought I was safe, turns out I was wrong :P Never knew omnimaga takes that long to say.

Speaking of pronunciation: How do you pronounce pronunciation? I've heard it two ways.

So I was looking for an official ruling by DJ_O or Juju in this thread but didn't really find one (the synthesized voice Juju posted doesn't really make it clear). What is the official pronunciation? It seems like the first syllable could be either "om" as in om nom or "ohm" like electrical resistance, and the third syllable could be either "ma" like someone might call their mom or "may."
EDIT: I guess I assumed the g belonged to the fourth syllable, that might be wrong as well.

Mag : Ma + hard "g"
a : soft "a"

Well, I guess in different languages you also pronounce it different as I do it differently when seeking english or german.

But yeah when I use Omnimaga nick on Xbox Live, everyone pronounces it the same way both in French and English.

It seems that most of us pronounce it pretty similarly, but I'll add my two cents as well. :P
Om (as in Omnom) ni (as in knee) mag (as in magazine) a(as the a in "what" is pronounced.)
