WOAH! My father got home the other day, and he said "Have you checked out Leap?" and I said "No."

A few minutes later, on public Portuguese TV, BANG, LEAP! And my dad said "Look, Leap!", and I said "Oh, it looks pretty cool".

And now I find out awesome Quigibo works on Leap? Damn, awesome job, and welcome back!

I think it's a very good investment they're making. Leap Motion is dramatically different from everything we're used to—no one's made a serious commercial attempt at anything like it thus far—and the only way they can sell it in the mass market of the new future is if they make sure that there already are a ton of programs that consumers can actually use with it. Otherwise, for the vast majority of their intended audience, this would just be "another cool idea" nobody uses.

By giving developers the device for free, they can hit the ground running: by the time they start selling the units, there'll already be a decent number of ways their customers can use the product.

Notice they specifically ask developers who are applying if they have any plans to sell apps for Leap in their "store."

I was talking about this with sai119 today, and we figured it out. They're probably making it for $30 to $40, and selling it for $70. By giving a developer a free unit, they probably lose about $40. Each developer can probably directly get 5 people to buy the Leap. So per every developer, they have a net gain of $310. Plus Leap probably gets a small cut of all app sales. These figures aren't taking into account the fact that more apps means more customers.

Actually he's not back JustCause, this post about him being back was his very last on the forums, a month or so ago. D: As for Leap Motion it looks interesting, I'm curious what will come out of it in terms of gaming. :D

I would totally want to see where that Leap thing is going to. I guess Quigibo is too busy with it.

That's a good point too—they'd be really productive beta testers of a sort, and would probably naturally convince some of their friends to buy the product when it gets released.

And glad you're still around Quigibo. That sounds like a really awesome job. What do you get to do there?
