Yeah I came home at lunch today and saw this on the news. This is truly sad. Not just due to the people who were mudered, but also because this happened at a school, which is often perceived as a place of safety. Where will we turn now?

What a n00b. :Ptongue.gif You gotta wonder what goes through the brains of smacktards like that. Seems like only one person has died though, so far. That sucks. Sucks they make the gun laws tighter too. Bad guys will still get their weapons, but then all the normal people won't be able to.

Many physiological issues can happen to a person like this, they could be bi-polar and have issues with family/relatives. I do agree it is unfair to make others suffer like this, but for some they can't control themselves.

Heh, Indiana is offering lifetime gun lisences for $125.00... Once I get the money up, I am getting mine. This way, if I am in the room where someone goes "Mel Gibson" (joke) they won't have a chance to hurt too many people...

hmm, we only need a gun permit for a handgun or coneald weapon. For rifles and shotguns, you don't need one. For a minor to carry a rifle/shotgun, all they need is a hunting permit.

here in germany, you need a license for every kind of gun. I like that. Less guns, less shooting. Simple as that.

personally I think gun permit thing doesnt make any sense. Even with laws everyone can buy guns online easily and they get through canada border like normal stuff, so ppl can easily get guns without registering them and getting a permit. I think helping person who are rejected or stuff like this before something bad happen is the best solution. this shooting could have been avoided a long time ago since the guy started changing 6 years ago according to news. No one seemed to notice

The scariest part is that the Beretta automatic (IIRC) he had was legally registered in Canada... more proof that all our gun registry has done is waste a billion dollars.

yeah they had the nickname in a news article in local newspaper. and yes ryantmer our gun registery is waste of money imo. if they make law stronger so it get impossible to get berreta guns they'll just use hunting guns or revolvers

ryantmer I didnt knew you were also canadian O_Oshocked2.gif

Oregon has some sucky weapon laws. Concealed weapons are completely illegal if I remember correctly, it has to be showing and it has to be in a case. I got pulled over on my bike by a cop because when I was biking to the archery range I had just shoved stuff in my backpack w/ arrows sticking out. :Ptongue.gif Also, I don't give a damn what psychological disorders he's got, n00bs are n00bs. My girlfriend is both bipolar and ADD and she's definitely all pr0 and stuff. Not an excuse.

[offtopic]
He has a nice gun :oohmy.gif Wonder how he got the $$$ for it, it costs over $600. Also, the people who wrote the news articles are n00bs too. That gun is niether a rifle nor a pistol. It's a carbine that's specially made to shoot large pistol rounds. (9mm, .45, etc.)

I am glad the shooter is dead! Good riddens!

As long as he is dead, he will not be able to hurt anybody again. And, he will never get off on some technicallity or insanity plea.

true that...

btw any idea why they made a video game about columbine school massacre??? It's just stupid, thats like making fun of the ppl who were victim of it 7 years ago. Maybe thats why I never seen the game in store and why we never hear about it before

I think it's actually just an internet game, but it is ridiculous that they would make somnehting like that. Whoever made that game should probably be joining Mr. Gill. (I think that's his name...)

it sucks they make fun of this tragedy, which was worse than what happened in mtl this week (more ppl kills involved i think)

I mean, a shooting game where you are in the army and kill ppl is ok, since its general, but imagine a game where you have to only shoot black ppl or where you are nazi and need to kill jewish ppl, its lack of respect imo

Uh... ever played Grand Theft Auto? Games where you randomly kill lots of people are quite popular you know. As for stupid internet games, I would like to forward that these are even more common than commercial games, jest go to albino blacksheep or newgrounds lol. (though they usually suck balls) There was one game of a similar theme that I kind of liked. You had this dude made up of round balls and you could throw stuff at him and shoot him and he would bleed and bounce around the screen with fancy physics.

yeah i wasnt saying people killing game are a bad thing, its just if a game reflect racist or is about something like columbine massacre its not really nice for the victims. Imagine if someone made a game where you had to crash a plane in new york WTC and kill as many ppl in the towers as possible O_Oshocked2.gif

Methinks games like that desensitizes people, even if they aren't targeted towards a certan "genre" of person.  The younger a person is playing it, the more worse the mental effect would be.

yeah most of them are M rated (17+), altough the parents gotta explain their kid that its just a game
Title: Shooting in a mtl school
Post by: spengo on September 16, 2006, 09:13:00 am
Yeah there is a rating system you know... I can rant about this all day, but why the hell are people saying videogames are so violent and desensitizing people when PG-13 movies are more violent than most M rated games?!? It's like seriously people get a life and pay attention to the world. If you don't want your little 11 year old watching R rated movies, then don't BUY THEM M rated games genius! Goddamn n00bs. It's not even a matter of telling your kids not to play them. Did you know that most games being played by underage players were bought for them by their parents?

Note: Columbine was an internet game there is no way ESRB would pass that

And also I don't like GTA just for the killing I like it because it is a great RPG about real life and it is a way to let ur rage out for some people. But there comes a point when you have to know that real life is real life and you have to do that ur self. I think the M rating is there for a reason yes but if ur responsible enough then there is no reason you can't play them. I just hate when they rate games like Tekken as M I mean come on there is no sex, no guns, just barefist fighting like seriously if that is rated M then all other M games should be rate AO(god forbid that)

Nowadays, it's 'cause you can download almost whatever the [...] you want over p2p now.  And parental filters on the PC aren't really that hard to get by.

Parental controls are hard to get by on AOL

Still, I'm not kidding about most games being bought buy the parents. I dunno, but a lot of <12 year olds I know have halo. People really need to pay attention to what they are buying more.

Also, haven't you ever noticed those people with really really high sounding voices over ts, voip, or xb live? lol XDsmiley.gif hehehe

Wow we got off topic.

what's wrong with people halo under 12 i dont think Halo is that bad of a game because ur killing aliens not people and anyways you could look on the news and see stuff like that going on in Iraq(I don't like bush)
Title: Shooting in a mtl school
Post by: spengo on September 16, 2006, 03:03:00 pm
Halo is still M-rated violence which is what I thought we were talking about. Not to mention heavy swearing from the marines if you play on legendary. And multiplayer you shoot other master chiefs, which are at least human-esque.

@bush, lol no one likes him he's an idiot. He seems to have good intentions, but he's stupid. Personally I prefer him to clinton or kerry at least. Seems like all our people running for president these days are a bunch of n00bs. Well, all the republican/democrat people anyways. The http://www.lp.org/ don't have huge a** political parties with billions of $$$ to spend on campaigns so all the normal n00bs out there don't even know they exist. :Ptongue.gif

I, for one, refuse to vote for the n00b that is slightly less n00b than the other n00b. I've said it before and I'll say it again. The ideal form of government is as little government as possible. Just enough to like, have an army and to keep us from killing each other (police, firemen, stuff like that). Meh. I'm moving http://freestateproject.org/ when they get that set up. Woot for the hedgehog!

Goddamn we really are very very off topic. Wanna split it? I can rant on this all day too. :>

yeah, well often debate topics at Omnimaga about controversed stuff such as politic and religion tend to not grab much interest, they die out after 3 or 4 pages, which is prbvly a good thing since on other forums i used to visit they tend to turn into flame war and spam

Hehe, I like political and religious debates. As long as it stays actually on religion and politics anyways lol. Generally they tend to be better on irc though. Had a nice long one with MV on #tcpa the other day. He's got the right idea about a lot of stuffs.
