Title: Simpsons, South Park,Family Guy
Post by: Thegame on October 19, 2010, 03:58:34 pm
I just watched a really horrible Simpsons episode. It was episode 2116 on religion. The Simpsons is too conservative and it's not funny enough. It's humor is all focused on Homer's stupidity. What are you guys' favorite and least favorite Simpsons, South Park, and Family Guy episodes? My favorite Simpsons episode isn't much better than my least favorite South Park episode. I have watched about 3 Family Guy episodes and my favorite one  is the one with the chicken that Peter beat up that I watched 4 years ago.

Family Guy.

The simspon's are great, it's not comedy to LAUGH LAUGH LAUGH like S.P. and F.G. it is to critizice american society :)

Sadly I do not watch TV really so I cannot judge what is the worst episode of anything I watched. It was far too long ago and where I live they aired Simpson episodes from 1990-1991

I honestly never liked Family Guy. The Simpsons were hilarious up through season 10, but then became unfunny due to a change in writers, and I think South Park has been going a bit downhill lately.

I like south park and don't like the rest.  Simple as that :)

That reminds me... did they even air family guy over here? I think there isn't even a french dub

I'm not a big fan of the "humor" in these shows. They just make fun of things for the sake of making fun of them, and there is little intelligence involved.

It depends, sometimes there are some nice references to real life stuff. However they are usually simple. I prefer the references during humorists shows.

Yep, they do, on Télétoon. I think they are doing a whole new dub, different from the one we had some time ago.

But stll, the Québécois dubs of The Simpsons are great.

Ah ok, I was more wondering about Tele-Quebec, SRC, TVA and ex-TQS, since I don't have cable/satellite TV x.x

Yeah, TQS/V have The Simpsons dubbed before the switch to Télétoon and some Futurama, which switched from Télétoon.

Yeah I mostly meant Family Guy, sorry x.x. As for Futurama I think they only got it recently.

I Don't really focus much on the politics part of these humor-criticism shows.  First of all Family Guy doesn't really criticize much at least not from the three  peter beating up chickens episodes I've watched . South Park up to the twentieth episode  it was all just wacky swearing and idioticness.  I like  Family Guy the best and hate the Simpsons! The Simpsons is too afraid to criticize any thing properly and criticizes huge boring stuff like health care and junk! South Park criticizes small things thought never to be criticized, like motor cycle guys and online gaming. hence  I like Family Guy because it does not criticize and it's humor is not serious like the Simpsons! Also, scoutdavid spelled criticize wrong and made me really confused. I thought Canada was an English-speaking country.  They should have English  shows there.

I used to like Family Guy, and the interest died quickly.  South Park is da bomb

Family Guy hasn't got many intelligence included, it's just weak comedy, but somehow we laugh with weak comedy (let's not be intellectual).

I don't watch South park 'cos it isn't a fox show

I don't spend my time watching TV all that much.  I prefer the comp.  ;)  And since I'm almost too busy to use the comp besides at school, I don't watch TV in my spare time at home, I get on my comp (almost) every moment of my free time.  ;)

Quebec, with the exception of Montreal city, is about 90% french speaking. Some french TV channel air american shows dubbed in english like Family Guy, but those channels are $1.99 a month and requires cable TV. As I do not watch TV at all, I am not willing to spend an additional $37 a month just to be able to watch Family Guy. The only TV thing I watch is hockey and most games are available online *cough*for free*cough*.
Also, scoutdavid spelled criticize wrong and made me really confused.
What made it this confusing? O.o He only accidentally inverted two letters that did not even make the word harder to understand. Not that grammar-nazi/trolling posts are allowed here anyway, especially when there's barely any error.

It made me confused when I tried to spell it. I thought it was spelled critisize but it turned red and then I thought it was critizice but it was still red.

Oh I see now x.x. I used to misspell it criticise a lot until Opera browser finally added a spell-checker like Firefox had for ages. I am not great on the grammar part, though (especially figuring out when to use this and when to use that. I end up trying to find a way to not have to use them at all x.x)

"Criticise" is actually correct in British English, so I think it's fine.

Really? I guess my spellchecker only does US english, then. Over here we mostly learned american english but we never got very deep into that language.

Not without doing a SQL dump or something like that (I wouldn't know, but that's what DJ said he did for the Bungie incident)

Sorry that was me ,I was experimenting With how many times I could rate and stuff. Then I went a little crazy and forgot to rate them back down but I just  rated them all down again.  I'm a new comer, see.

Oh, ok.  It looked weird how the posts that liked the shows were rated up, and the ones that didn't were rated down.  But yours was one of the ones rated down (not anymore, though).

Through the database. I think if a member rates up/down a post then cancels his vote, the ratings are removed from the database, though. And yeah the Bungie incident was weird, as he rated down about 400 posts I think. Thankfully the damage was reverted with the time.

Sorry, but you're not one to backseat moderate the forums. You're not admin, have contributed nothing in terms of projects and calc discussion, and some of your posts are borderline trolling. And it's inevitable that a mass post downtrating will trigger a discussion about it in the topic where it happened.

Moderators know their job here and know when it's time to tell people to go back on-topic. Consider this as first warning for trolling. (Sent a copy via PM as well).

I do think Thegame should have some say here, as this is his topic and nobody actually did answer his question about the episodes.

Maybe, but the off-topic discussion ended 1 week ago and the way he told us to get back on-topic was rather trollish, like if he was acting like he was admin, even though he isn't. Plus many of his other posts are rather borderline, especially in the Casio thread, so I think he has no say on how we run things. As I said, calc84maniac, there are nicer ways to tell someone to go back on-topic, such as "back-on topic: so what's other people opinion on those shows?", and if the off-topic discussion continued, it would've eventually have either been stopped or split elsewhere.

well, being off topic is not a horrible thing, as long as getting back on topic becomes reality eventually ;)

Yeah, it was his thread, but I'll ignore the trolling issue for a second: I feel for him that he wants his thread to be on topic, but since it's not a serious discussion I don't think it's bad to get off topic for a few posts.

My opinion, not that I'm entitled to it or anything ;)

also, what DJ says goes, I guess.  It IS his forum website after all...

EDIT: to get back on topic: I like south park and the simspons much more than that, but family guy irks me for some reason O.o

Yeah what ASHBAD said. But yeah this site is a privilege you all have, that I devote a lot of money in.

If this privilege is abused with posts telling me what is allowed and what's not allowed on my own site or other troublemaking, I can easily stop paying for the hosting or plaster the entire website with ads that sometimes play sounds and break some pages scripts.

Anyway, I personally did not watch the Simpson in a long while, so I can't really remember which episode was what and which I liked more X.x. Same for Futurama. Not that I really watched TV much, though. The only thing I ever watched much were Asterix, The Mysterious Cities of Gold, Bugs Bunny and now hockey.
Title: Re: Simpsons, South Park,Family Guy
Post by: ASHBAD_ALVIN on November 04, 2010, 08:23:22 pm
yeah, if you think about it, DJ doesn't make us have to hinder with site ads, so he's paying for ALL OF THIS.  I realize now how much of a privelege omnimaga is, as DJ puts so much time and money into us, so much devotion going on there.
/me wishes he could give DJ a thumbs up

EDIT: Futurama sucked in my opinion, pretty boring and little point to each episode.  I don't watch these types of cartoons that much, but I might do so like once a week or so -- I prefer old retro tv shows like black sheep squadron, wild wild west, star trek (original), magnum PI/ Rockford etc.

For some reasons, I found Futurama to be almost as funny as The Simpsons, but I only watched a few episodes. It seemed like a futuristic spinoff of the Simpson in overall.

I guess, it was kinda like it except it didn't have the satire that made the simpsons so great :D

I haven't watched too much of Futurama, but from what I have seen of it so far I think that it is on par with, and maybe better than the Simpsons. The first season at least is full of win. :)..so I guess my favorite episode would be the first one I suppose. My favorite SouthPark is the one about WoW...that one is pretty funny. Most of Southpark I don't find too funny though. :x

and @calc84
I do think Thegame should have some say here, as this is her topic and nobody actually did answer her question about the episodes.

(at least per the forum profile)

Well, nothing indicates that TheGame is a girl. It could be, but there are people who pretended to be a girl before or just changed their profile for the lulz. :P

And I remember that South Park episode about WoW :P
Title: Re: Simpsons, South Park,Family Guy

yeah I did that in a forum I used to be active on to get lulz.

yeah that WoW was so funny... "It's not a stupid game you artard, it's an Massive multiplayer online role playing game!" "..I'm not an artard!"
/me hopes we don't get into another MMO heated discussion again though
