I take taekwondo too. I'm now at the second degree level. And since this thread got reinstated I've set a new personal record for the mile. On my last track race of the year at league prelims I ran a 4:59 shattering the 5 minute barrier ;D

List of stuff I need to do before September:
1. Finish the Emulator of the Casio Prizm (in active development)
2. Finish the the SH3 asm IDE/assembler/linker program (in active development)
3. Create a partial Java virtual machine  for the Prizm (not started)
4. Create Axe for the Prizm with an Axe legacy mode (in planning phase)
5. Develop a large set of C and asm libraries for the Prizm (some progress)
6. Create an emulator of the 83+ for the Prizm (not started)
7. Create a well polished game that showcases the ability of the Casio Prizm (not started)

5-8 hours standing and walking(no rest nor seat down(yeah, build up your stamina and endurance pretty quick)) at a job. 4 hours of running a week. 10 hours of math a week. 15 hours of chess. 10 hours of language learning. 2 hours of being irritated.
If you all seriously want to break your time record in track or whatever. Try get a lowly job part time as a custodian at a mall or construction worker (drilling and digging) working without rest. In a month, running feel like a breeze. Also, working in these fields makes your brain easily learning from books too. You feel tired but you are focused and slightly increase your brain power absorption.

I am a swimmer.
i'm a swimmer/runner. I'm not in high school yet and since I just transfered to the school I'm in I can't join athletics. I hope to be able to compete with my school in high school. I used to swim competitively and i have a few good/bad memories from that.

Another swimmer :D
* squidgetx high fives

yes, I swim competitively. My best event is the 100 yard butterfly, pr 59.13 seconds. Other events I do well in are the 100 freestyle (54.8), 100 back (1:04.72), and the 200 Individual Medley (50 yards each of fly, back, breaststroke, and freestyle. pr; 2;16:48)
Wow, I wish I went a 54! Is that yards or meters? The best I go is about 57 in the 100 free.

*Update* Well I got around to doing a benchmark for my mile this past Thursday. I managed to complete a mile in 5:57. Hooray! My back was giving me some trouble when i started running, so I wasn't able to go as fast as I liked at first, but I tried to make up for it a bit later on in the lap. It did throw my pacing off though. I may do this every couple of weeks just to see where I'm at. Since I surpassed my goal of 6 mins or less, I'm aiming for 5:30 next. :)
Bump. :)
Holy cow, that's amazing! My best time is 6:27.
I do some table tennis, which I'm fairly good at, and some tennis, which I suck at. I also do marching band, and used to run, but I had to drop it to accomodate band. I also do Tae Kwon Do (black belt, 2nd degree), and am a mathlete :)

Thanks! ;D I backed off on running for a bit, I really need to get back doing it again. =)

@Z80man: Nice time bro!

I thought I might as well revive this topic since we have been discussing sports on IRC. I'm a swimmer and I used to run, but I don't compete or run much anymore.
Now for the bragging part(Though I'm not sure how good some of these are) :P
100 breaststroke 1:22.71
100 freestyle about 1:08
50 freestyle 0:29.00
50 breaststroke 0:35.97
100 backstroke about 1:37 I'm not great at it. I hate back

My coach says I could take 6 seconds off my breast time by fixing my turns and working a little on my stroke. I also could do with a little more stamina to take that 100 free time down.
I currently don't do much, but I am a developer for a game you should totally try out called AssaultCube Reloaded download here https://assaultcuber.codeplex.com/

I once played soccer (I was never good at it, though). I did swimming when I was younger because the elementary school had everybody swim on Friday's. I was never allowed to do Track or Cross Country (or any other sports after elementary school-- my parents always said "no"). However, two years ago in a phys-ed course for cross training, I brought my mile time down to 2 miles in just under 10 minutes. Let's just say that I am very tall with very long legs ^^ Now I cannot even run a mile without tiring out XD

umm... it's like you just looked at my sports-related history and copied it directly XD
i got 2 miles in just under 10 minutes during soccer practice, though, not phys-ed, and the swimming was at the YMCA

how the heck do so many people freestyle faster than they breaststroke? that kick is worthless (for me, at least).

Another swimmer here! I'm retired now (not swimming actively right now, and probably won't because college is D1 and varsity is too good) but some of my times are were
100 free: 52.9
50 free: 23.9
100 fly: 56.8
100 back: 1:01.4
200 fly: 2:05.6
200 IM: 2:09
400 IM: 4:39
100 breast: 1:14

Hey, you're pretty good at breaststroke :O no seriously, relative to your other times 1:22 and :35 is really good. i bet if you worked hard on it you could get really good. (I never was a great breastroker :( )

For the 100 free, the biggest piece of advice I have is BREATHE ON THE FIRST 50! I could've done much better in my last few meets and probably gotten under 52 but I would always jump in and be like YEAH I FEEL AWESOME and breathe like 4 times in the first 50 and go out like a :25 then get tired and come back a :28 :(

:O Those are great times. Your better than pretty much everyone at my school at freestyle. You also do good at back and fly. We don't have 200 fly or a 400 im so I can't compare on that.
23 is the best time that people get at our meets for free, and everyone thinks they are absurdly fast.
Thanks on the breaststroke. I hope I can get even better. I spend most of my time in practise on it and endurance.

My best event relatively is the 200 fly, I qualified for my state junior olympics with that time :D I'm OK at free I think, I went that 23 once in a relay but never went under 24 again haha.

Know who's absurdly fast? This kid. High schooler, WTF

This video also is quite amazing/funny:

We had one swimmer at a meet last week that swam the 500 free as butterfly(He got 4th place). It turns out that actually is within the rules. I'm not sure what his time was, but it was 6 min or less. The whole crowd gave him a standing ovation.
