Title: Star Wars Rebels
Post by: Sorunome on May 04, 2014, 09:39:59 am
So, after Clone Wars it seems like they are making a new animated Star Wars series - this time it'll take place between episode III and IV.
I will probably end up watching a few episodes, I think that timespan is also kinda "unpopulated" throughout the Star Wars story.

What do you guys think?
Also, get the trailer below:

Unpopulated indeed. O.O There's about 25 years between these two episodes of which we know nothing. Even Obi Wan dies in EP IV. :/ It's not actually as bad with what happened between I and II though since I don't think much went on during these ~15 years. Except for Anakin's training ofc.
Actually I'm looking forward to episodes VII-IX. I wonder how it will be in comparison to the comics.

Also I can't watch the video. x.x

Disney announced that the mvies will not use anything from books and comic books. The Expanded Universe is considered non-canon to Disney.

Wat!? EU is non-cannon? I thought it was just <movies, but if they completely disregard major points...

According to Disney, it is now. With Lucasfilm, it was considered canon.

Non-cannon ? I don't get it. Also, of the two comics I read (Thrawn's cycle and The Empire of Darkness (translations back from French may be inaccurate)) they seemed to go pretty well with the movies. :/

Bullshit. At the same time, they're already giving away the fact that it's gonna be set right after the first trilogy (IV-VI). Meaning it's also gonna be the same character set (Harrison Ford is part of the party anyway).
That's when the EU comics I read are set actually.

The already announced the cast, and all the "old guys" are back, like Harrison Ford, Marc Hamill, Ccarrie Fisher, Keny Baker etc

I dunno if that's good or not. I mean, the first and second trilogy don't have any characters in common besides Obi Wan, Yoda and Darth Vader + Sidious. There are some appearances of other chars, but very short and you can count them with the fingers of one hand.

You forgot R2D2 and C-3PO and Yoda

Also, that is because between episode II and IV there is a way larger timespan than between VI and VII

I didn't forget Yoda. :P But you're right about the droids.
Also I think you mistook episodes II and III.
Anyway, they could have done it much further in the future. Not that I want that, just that it would seem more consistent between trilogies.
