Title: Summer absence (I'm back!)
Post by: JustCause on June 01, 2011, 11:04:52 am
Yup, it's that time of year again. I'll be off Omnimaga, and the Internet at large, starting on June 13 (when I head up to Salt Lake City to visit some family) and ending sometime in late August.

My rents have, however, allowed me to keep my calc, which means that project development will not only continue but should actually accelerate. You just won't hear about it until I show up in a blaze of epic glory three months from now with all of my projects finished, a fully orchestrated score for Yumé, and 9001-level grayscale. ;D

Project statuses:
Cubes: (http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?board=156.0) I will definitely finish this before the summer is over.
MFQT: Will basically undergo a total rewrite. That engine is so broken, I don't even. Elmine preserve us, this is gonna be BAD.
Omni Emblem: (http://ourl.ca/11194) Since this is a computer project, this will stall over the summer, but I'll be mapping on paper whenever I get the chance.
Composing for Yumé: (http://ourl.ca/9077) Actually, this is an interesting one. In what I'm now referring to as the Great Purge of 2010, where my rents got a hold of the password I use(d) basically everywhere, they figured out I was working on this from my conversations with Tsukasa. While they don't strictly approve of me talking to "Random Strangers" on the internet, and there's no way they believe she's female, they actually approve of my getting back into music after what's been a long hiatus. With the end result that I'll actually be able to work on this. ATM I have three half-songs that I haven't been able to push here because they're on my home comp (y'know, the one that I'm DEFINITELY NEVER EVER allowed to get on Omni with?), but I'll see if I can get them out when I've finished.

And the big one:
"Song" (AKA The One In Randomness): (http://ourl.ca/9778) I'll actually start engine work on this, and if I can stay motivated you guys'll have a handful of demo maps when I come back, probably with placeholder graphics (both my artists are moving to DC in a month). THIS IS GONNA KICK ASS.
For those who have submitted chars and are wondering whether they're in, as a whole the answer is "Yes, if I can use them." And I can think of places for 90% of them within roughly 5 seconds. The other 10% are still probably in. I'll start sending out confirmations pretty soon.

SO!
Get ready for the psychological impact of an Omnimaga without me. Maybe take some Zoloft. :hyper:

MFQT Progress? Oh just perfect :D

Also, you will have a computer, right? Otherwise, what if something happens to your Calc? You need backups and such.

Good Luck and enjoy your holidays :D

I can,t wait for your return. I hope you can manage to work on stuff without too many hinderances (such as parent-assisted mem clears). Will you be able to browse sites via your phone like you did sometimes recently?

Scout: Two calcs. Lol dual wielding.

DJ: Oh, that. Right. I wasn't supposed to have that. They found out. And took the phone, WHICH I BOUGHT, away. ATM I'm posting on a PSP I also shouldn't have, but I won't be able to smuggle it into Utah. :(

If this happened to me I'd se how often I could go to the library unsupervised by 'rents.
YOu might want to write your progs down on paper in case of 'rent assisted mem-wipe.

We will probably all go crazy without you

Ruler: I am dependent on the rents for transportation because everything is across a freeway and they will NEVER let me get a driver's license. Otherwise I would live there.

But they have basically given up trying to mess with my calc stuff. If they'd wanted to, they could just have taken them away. Plus, ever since my MFQT data loss, Krolypto has been my best friend. (2ND Up Up LN MATH * MATH Enter, btw.)

Library is pretty far for me also, but I have comp access. My parents don't know about omni yet or most of the things I do with my comp(locked em out they can only use the guest account on my good comp, the bad comp they locked me out of but I got into :P Kon-Boot FTW) My parents don't like my comp work but are resigned to it

Parents seem to know, and probably disapprove, but they haven't made any objections to it.  My mom still thinks omni's a "chat-line" (tho she thought of that herself)

My parents know of IRC but they think it is just for tech help(which I need a lot) They think interennt chats are evil otherwise

Here's to the gullibility and paranoia of the previous generation.

Freedom is only a year away, as I skipped a grade back in elementary school but definitely do not plan on taking a gap year. Straight out of the state for me: I'll pay for my own Internet and do whatever the hell I want with it.

As I write this, I'm sitting at my gate in Indianapolis International Airport, waiting for my flight to depart. Originally, the flight had been scheduled to take off at noon. Naturally, the airline industry can't do anything right, and so it was delayed five and a half hours. Thankfully, I got the news of the delay BEFORE going to Indy (I live in Illinois), so I wasn't stranded at the airport.

Flying as an unaccompanied minor kicks ass. You get to flash your ID everywhere and everyone calls you "sir."

My rents decided I wasn't allowed to take my calculator to Utah. All projects are now halted and will resume upon my return to Illinois. The exception: "Song," the Randomness project, will receive some major story and character work during this time. I'll post my notes upon my return.

They did a piss-poor job searching me, so I probably could have smuggled my calc into Utah, but I have no doubt they'll search me more thoroughly on my return, so it wasn't safe to pack it. Ah well.

(I feel naked without my flash drive.)

I've been sent with an iPod Touch, to update my infinitely paranoid rents on my flight information and such. Upon my arrival in Utah, my relatives have been instructed to take it, so I won't be able to stay in contact, but for now (as well as during my layover in Dallas) I can make posts. If you need to contact me during my hiatus, your best chance is my primary email, fourbillion<REMOVE THIS>[email protected].

You would not believe what I had to do to get reliable Internet again (cracking WPA, anyone?) but I'm back and better than ever! I missed you guys.
