Title: Understanding ourselves and others
Post by: guy6020665 on December 20, 2010, 12:52:40 am
Something I've noticed about many people, the person we show to everyone else is different from the person we really are. We are scared that someone else will find out who we truly are and yet, at the same time we yearn for someone to finally understand who we are and what we care about. So many people keep their true selves locked away.

To be able to truly understand, takes time and patience, on both sides. When people truly understand who we are, then the chains that we have put on ourselves will break and then we can be truly happy.

On the other hand, the longer we are misunderstood, the deeper into despair we fall.

I send this out to everyone, and I say, don't lose hope, no matter how misunderstood you are, or for how long. If you keep moving forward, someday, you will find someone who understands and cares.

Mhmm nice, but is it a chain letter? ???

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chain_letter

Chain letters are considered as spam.

Oh ok, because the following part made it look like a chain letter:
And to all who read this, send this out to all those that you care about and let them know how important they are to you.

Just edited it out

But from what I've seen and experienced, it seems like a universal truth.

Yeah I notice that some people try to be someone else around others. One thing, though, is that in some cases, people try to be someone else to avoid bullying and such things. For example, someone may hide that he codes for calculators or play games on the computer just to not be considered as a nerd and be bullied at school. However, I also notice people who tries to be someone else just to actually attract attention.

Also if I remember, people tend to act differently online than IRL, but when you know the person well per internet chat standards, I think you can expect in advance how he'll be IRL. With my two experiences of meeting two online people in person, though, they were pretty similar IRL than online, though.
