Schools closed today due to snow, mine only opened from 8 to 11AM... And I don't have any courses Mondays, so I slept till 12:15PM, then looked at all these people whining on how the school closed in mid-day on Facebook. :P

That isn't what it is dedicated to! That is what capitalism has dedicated it to. Valentines Day is about the expression of love! Hearts happen to be accepted as a symbol of love and chocolate is just something that a lot of people like. Chubby babies with arrows... that is a little weird, I admit :P

My school had people trooping into our classrooms all day, dressed in pink and not-normal clothes, calling people up and singing them. Apparently, you could buy a 'singogram' and members of ASB would go off and sing to them... They were quite good too. (I think more people paid for this not as a show of affection, but to embarass them :))

well, I am the guy at my school who can get you stuff.
So to get a customer sucked into my services, I made a basket of Pokey, Ramune, Hi-Chew, many other Japanese Items, and high quality sugar cane. (don't forget the rose petals) So he could give it to his girlfriend.
I caught the flu and couldn't make the delivery.... wow this is bad for me....
At least I wasn't charging :P.
Anyone who has, or has a friend with a laser engraver; Freeze a chocolate bar. Write a loving message in it, and give it to your valentine. Best V-Day for you ever. (trust me, it worked)

I didn't notice anything special about it. As for me, just my usual irregular post sprees. Noticing we got plenty of snow, I wouldn't be surpsised if some people had a snow day too, though, which tends to make the site more active during daytime, but quieter during evenings.
But Valentines Day is such a nice day!
You have to understand that if it's easy for you to get a boyfriend or if it's easy for someone to get a gf, it is not necessarily the same for others. You have to respect the fact that some people may despise Valentine's Day or even Christmas for social reasons.
Have you thought that certain people may just not be ready to get a gf or that they have other interests that might hinder a long term relationship? Some people are less extraverted too, which makes things harder. And then, there are other factors as well, such as if someone got dumped shortly before V-Day. That day is gonna make the person feel even worse thinking that others are with a gf while he just broke with his.
In my case, I despise valentine's day if I happen to work on an evening when that idiot works too and didn't ask for a free day or call in sick, because he'll harrass me forcing me to have a date as soon as possible and/or make fun of me if I didn't have one. Otherwise, I don't really mind. In my case, though, I am not ready nor feeling like getting into such serious relationship right now.

Don't worry about it. It's just that for some people it is harder than for others while others will feel happy that day.
I dislike Christmas too due to lack of a decent family (everyone always fight on Holidays so we stopped hanging with family members)

I am totally introverted, yet I love V-day. Then again, I love all holidays! I'm just kinda happy-go-lucky. I don't have or want a gf, yet. Too busy. Too complicated. But, you never know. My 7th grade math teacher swore she would find a gf for me (I never plan to hold her too it though). :) But there is a girl who is learning Python. And is a very good friend of mine. Humm...

Hmm... Valentine's day. Perhaps the shittiest fake holiday ever created. Those who have someone feel obligated to spend large sums of money to show their love because of the large capitalistic influence on this holiday. Those how are alone are reminded of the fact that they are indeed alone. Worst fucking idea for a holiday EVER.

I think we might be getting a bit too negative here. Sure, Valentine's day is commercialized. So is every major holiday. Just saying that while it may or may not suck, perhaps we should accept it for what it is.

i got a cupcake... and i gave my female friend a couple heart-shaped cookies, and asked her to be my valentine since we're both single. no sense in wallowing in it, just pick a friend and celebrate the holiday.
